1973 c1500 tires

What would be the biggest ture I could squeeze on an 8 inch rally wheel and in my rear fender im thinking radial ta's and I was looking at a 295 or 305 I cant recall 50r15

could I go bigger. And I was thinking 235/70r15 which is one size wider than the stock ones now


I just wanma know how big can I go. Safely I know a shop that they will literaly put any tire on any wheel if the wheel size is correct and I want it to be safe not like that.


oh and by the way it's a 1973 c1500 stock height nothing done to fenders

I just went through the whole new rim and tire thing. My rims are 5 on 5 15x8's and I went with a 265/75 R15 BF Goodrich Long Trail radial TA's. Not sure if those are the largest (tallest) but they told me I couldn't go wider on an 8" rim.
