The k10s and k5s have 6 lugs and 10 bolts. 81 - 87. Through 91 for suburban and k5
73 - 79 or 80 are 12 bolt if I recall.
Brake shoes can be standard or heavy duty. Would either need to measure or know the option code from the donor truck.

Your posi is probably for a 8.875” rear.
You’ll need to find another truck 12 bolt in the years listed by @RoryH19 to save your posi

No i blew my factory 12 bolt, bought a 10 bolt from an 87 and bought a 30 spline clutch posi, put it in with my 30 spline 12 bolt axles. This is the rear i just cooked. My current after market posi will work as i bought it for the 10 bolt

They still run 6 x 5.5 on Chevy trucks today. They just call them 6 x 139.7mm
There are countless options.

you can use a 10 or 12 bolt under all the 73-87 trucks,, they all fit same. same spring pad spacing and width and shock mounts and brake parts and everything..

and '77-82 were the running year axle model changes.. the 5 and 10 and 1500 series trucks got both of these axle models within these six years. after 82 they were all 10 bolt though. althoguh iit seems the 12 bolt was still far more common in '77-82, than the 8.5" axle was, from all the billions of these trucks ive seen and owned over the years now anyways.

and the 12 bolt was done after '82. this was the final year for the 12 bolt axle.
this goes for the vans and burbs and K5 too.

and if your 10 bolt is factory "posi" then it will be the garbage grenade lok you will need to go buy and install a real locker for it. pretty much al the 10 and 12 bolt axles after '73 had the garbage grenade-lok. the true factory lockers were only still in the dana and 14 bolt 10.5 axles after 73. the 9.5" axles also had grenade-lok units i them(this axle model was '81-up 6 and 8 lug versions)
