I have a 1975 C30 big block truck. I am missing the fuel tank selector knob. This truck has the push pull cable on the center of the dash. I’ve looked at every parts company that sell parts for the truck, no listing. I’ve been told it’s a 75 1 ton with a big block only deal, can’t confirm. Does anyone have a idea where I might find one? Does anyone have a GM parts book for a 75, having a GM part number might help track one down.

Welcome to the forum. Do you only need the knob?

The trucks I know of that had a cable to switch tanks were Internationals. There was a turn switch built in the cable to switch the tank gauges. I have never seen one factory, in a GM, but there could be.

This would be the knob for the International cable.

I believe it will. The stock one was black, looking for that. I know I could get one to fit and work perfectly but for some reason I like the chase to find original parts. It makes no sense as it’s not a show truck, it’s just a habit I have hunting down stuff. I guess it’s the thrill of the chase.

Okay, so you want the cheap-a$$ rubber knobs that GM used on their factory hand throttle cable....

I believe this one has been drilled out to use on some other application.

You should probably hunt for a factory hand throttle, many medium duty GMC squares would have them as well as a few light duty trucks.

I’m fairly certain that is not an “original” factory option in the first place.
AFAIK, all dual tank squares have an electric rocker switch operated tank valve.
If for no other reason than I remember it in my dads ‘74 Chevy back in the day and every other square I’ve ever seen.

The C30 cab and chassis with the big block in 75 was for sure a factory deal with a cable. I’ve seen it referred to a NL2 option and that checks out with a wiring diagram from 75. There is a switch on the cable hold down behind the dash that sends the tanks float level wire to the gauges.

From your description, that fuel valve cable sure sounds like the same cable used in many International trucks. Probably a fair trade item made by Indak or some other manufacturer.

Here it is:

Appreciate the help. Ordered one, let’s see how it works out. I’m willing to take the gamble.

And I know it came off as rash, I am sorry for that and not the way I wanted to start as a newbie. I am admin on a large forum as well as a very large Facebook group for a certain model truck. We hate when those come in and ask us to do the work for them when it’s obvious they spent no time researching. I have been researching this for a while on and off, I was just trying to convey that I did put work in, I did it badly.

Does this truck have special tanks, or anything PTO powered on the trans/transfer case(if one?)? I could see a hand throttle being helpful when running something that either would pull more juice(so more amps from alternator), or something that would need a higher idle speed or something to set it while not inside the cab possibly. Just a few ideas tossed around that may coincide. Like if the tanks are non-standard or so, or the valve to select saves space or something, may make some sense. Pics of your truck?

It makes sense the same knob would be used for other cable functions

What research I have done is the truck got the NL2 Aux tank package. Each tank is 20 gallons. As far as I can tell the tanks are just off the shelf parts GM used in the other C/K series of this era.
