LS swap it. Knowing what i know now about how tedious old school engines are, I'm going back to the LS/LT for good.

    74 K20 468 build

I'm starting a new thread, since practically everything about the build changed, and i can't edit my OP. The engine that came out of the truck was trashed. The knock ended up being a loose rod cap, which ultimately introduced the #1 rod to the #2 cylinder. So i found a big block in a 79 Z28...

Yes. It spreads the main load more evenly, similar to the LS1 firing oorder. Plus, it just sounds better to me. I would do thd 4/7 2/3, but i cant find one affordable enoigh. Sent from my LG-H910 using Tapatalk

Looking at this one. The small power gain isn't worth the ping risk from 9:1 to 10:1 on these engines. Sent from my LG-H910 using Tapatalk

Found a '73 truck engine with a factory forged crank and 049 heads. It was burned up after snapping the oil pump shaft, but the block made .060, and the crank made .010. The heads cleaned up well. Saving money for the pistons, cam, and rebuild kit. Sent from my LG-H910 using Tapatalk

    91 V1500 suburban

I jumped the oil pressure switch and replaced the fuel pump to get it running and drive it around the property, but it sat another 6 months, and the fuel pump won't come on again, although there wasn't a bit of rust in the gas tank. New alternator and belt It didn't have any brake fluid in it...

81 crew cab C20 "Trailering Special"

92k miles, 454, TH400. New fuel senders, electric pump. Comes with but not installed: new quiet mufflers, new RV cam/lifters. Chassis is tight and quiet. It ran great after some TLC until the cam went flat, and i haven't had time to swap it. $2300 with the BFG's $1800 with crappy tires...

Ok so now I'm just going to buy an existing 496 i found, since i dont have enough useable parts from these 2 engines. I'm going to pull it apart and mic everything just to be safe and to know what I'm actually working with. I do know it has 049 heads.
