Running it with domes for about 9:1 with a healthy cam.

10:1 more better lol but for the street it will behave better at 9:1 even 9.5:1.

I have no clue what mine are but I’d say the domes are a little over a 1/2” tall with 96cc chambers.

Depends on how "healthy" the cam is, more overlap you have the more static you need or the dynamic suffers..

Looking at this one.

The small power gain isn't worth the ping risk from 9:1 to 10:1 on these engines.

Post deleted by me because I had already commented.

This forum really needs a "delete post" option, even if it's active for only 10 minutes.

You'll be ok at 9:1, don't think I'd go any higher though..

I see that cam you're looking at is for the 4/7 firing order swap. Are you planning on going that route?

Yes. It spreads the main load more evenly, similar to the LS1 firing oorder. Plus, it just sounds better to me.

I would do thd 4/7 2/3, but i cant find one affordable enoigh.

Would a firing order swap play well with a dual plane manifold?

I've never heard that it wouldn't. I've seen people run the 4/7 swaps with eddie rpm air gap dual planes.

Thanks for the update! 049 heads are good heads. Sounds like you found a great engine to rebuild.
