'73 Chevelle SS Wagon (local find)

That looks great! My parents had a 76 Pontiac Safari Wagon when I was in High School. It had some rust on the lower rear quarters but my dad kept it waxed and you didn't even notice since the rest of the car looked nice.

    Emissions Labels

There is also a thread here in the reference library about emissions stickers.

    Motorhome to flatbed project.

Ford Econoline cutaway used for class C motor home or box van is definitely full frame with separate cab from '75 until now. The full van stopped production in 2015 and Econoline is only sold as cutaway for RV/box van. The new Transit van is a unibody but is available as a cutaway with stamped...

    Project Texas'Tek A.K.A. The Mermaid

I briefly worked for the supplier company that made the bumpers and cladding for the Aztek and the Rendezvous. Got to see the Aztek prototype builds and was working on the Rendezvous cladding design when I left. They get a lot of S*#t for being ugly but were ahead of the curve for the...

Signing in for the first time

Good to know, I've driven RHD drive vehicles here in the States. You get lots of second looks on the highway especially in a Falcon FPV (FG) GT!

Signing in for the first time

Welcome, I thought all vehicles had to be RHD in Australia. I've heard it is very expensive in case you need to have one converted. Is that not the case?

86 c3500 check engine light no ecu?

I believe the check engine light is tied into the air pump system. Mine has a check engine light (no bulb anymore) and all the air pump hardware removed. We removed it all when I bought the truck (the engine was bad when bought, I have no idea if it made any difference)

    Chinese Ebay Headers....

I would recommend you get a fan shroud. That will be safer and help with cooling.

    PCV Catch Can

I've seen them used, typically on boosted engines that can create a lot of blow-by. They work fine if you are getting a lot of oil in the pcv system which could also be an issue with a higher mileage engine. Newer engines typically have a better baffle system to keep oil mist from getting...

What have you done to your square lately??

Done a few little things to my truck the last few weeks. Installed new speakers in the dash, fixed loose driver side door hinge pin, finished installing 7 way trailer connector. Bought fan switch for the factory aux. electric fan, haven't installed it yet because I've got to drain coolant...

    Venturi to increase exhaust?

New GM diesel trucks have a venture device on the end of the tailpipe but that is mainly to cool down the exhaust when the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is in regen, the exhaust gets super hot. Ford doesn't have a venture but they have some tabs in the exhaust to mix in fresh air.

    Shifting question

Just to say it again, Low isn't normally used except when you need to go really slow or pull a heavy load. Normal shifting is 1,2,3. That's why it is called Low and not 1st.

I Know This Maybe A Crazy Idea: 1976-77 Chevy El Cummino

I like the idea. Whenever I go to a car show I'm usually attracted to something different. Even though I like them it seems like everyone has a Camaro or Mustang, Vette or Shoebox Chevy. How about a 4BT instead of the 6BT? Save a little weight, not sure how much power they can make.

    Brakes randomly sticking.

The flexible brake lines can also go bad and not release the pressure from the caliper. usually not random but it could happen. If they're old its probably good insurance to change them.

    Thermal vs. Non-thermal Fan Clutch

Not sure what options are available. My Big Block comes factory with the thermal clutch. I can hear when it kicks on full blast which isn't too often even when towing. I'd go thermal, it cools full blast when needed, reduces load when not needed. I just replaced my clutch last year, was...

    Best black matte

How long will it be just bare primer? Regular primer does allow moisture thru and will allow surface rust if left outside for quite a while in a damp environment.

    Cold Air intake on 5.3

I'm not sure what this intake looks like but if it doesn't get you cold air in the square then I'd sell it. There are factory holes in the radiator support panel that will get cold air from in front of the radiator.

    Door panel decoding

I don't work for GM but I am an engineer in the auto industry so I can help decode it somewhat based on working for another company. LH for driver side. 14057322 is probably the part number for the door panel if you ignore the color. Change 9 probably means it is the 9th revision to the...

    Temptation

Proper turbo sizing for a streetable car is more difficult than just installing a supercharger even harder to do without turbo lag on a big turbo. That's why factory gasoline cars with turbos are fairly small or have dual turbos, either parallel or parallel/sequential. All the gasoline use a...

    77 Suburban build for AK

I was just looking at pictures of my engine installed without the front clip on the truck. There's not that much room between the bottom of the exhaust manifold runners and the top of the frame rails. You might get 3 or so inches lower and then the manifolds would hit the top of the frame rails.
