    Anti theft devices

I bought a dummy LED that flashes when the key is off that I'm likely going to zip tie to the defrost vent if it doesn't look trashy. I'm also giving serious thought to routing my neutral safety switch wire through an on/off toggle under the dash.

    Basic volt drop test

That little rant must've knocked something loose because I found it. One of the wires on that junction block on the firewall fed the "IGN" terminal on the fuse box constant voltage. Once I found and pulled it off the block, that circuit functioned like it should. I don't know, maybe some...

    Basic volt drop test

Pretty sure I found my draw because I get a tiny spark when I put the fuse for the headlight relays back in. I have no idea how though. With the fuse out, I don't get a little spark putting the cable back on the negative post but I do with the fuse installed. This stuff frustrates me to the...

    Basic volt drop test

The engine is out so those are safely dangling so there shouldn't be when I disconnect that circuit breaker. That's just got me all kinds of frazzled. New little issue that I'm pretty sure wasn't that way before: now my "IGN" terminal on the fuse block is powered all the time. New ignition...

    Basic volt drop test

I've got to be doing this wrong and I'm an electrickery rookie. With the key off and making sure the doors were closed each time, I pulled each fuse and every wire from the fuse box, one at a time, and each time I got 12.?v from the negative post to the negative cable on my el cheapo voltmeter...

    Basic volt drop test

If the key is off, both doors closed and nothing on anywhere, should your voltmeter read 12v from the negative post to the negative battery cable?

    Basic volt drop test

Timely posts; thanks. I've probably still got a drain to chase down and I'm not sure how to do it. I got frustrated and left it in the garage last August, lol. Any advice.

    Headliner Trims

Let us know how the mock-up/pre-drill idea goes. I'm also doing a Silverado trim into a Scottsdale upgrade so I don't have any holes to work with and was wondering the best way to go about it. Shawn

    Holley sniper install questions

I bought this kit for mine but haven't been able to find the time to drop the tanks, lol https://www.efisystempro.com/dual-tank-fuel-pump-kit Shawn

    Dash/Stereo Progress and Wiring Question

I'm pretty sure I got it from USA1 when I bought a few other things. Thanks!

    Dash/Stereo Progress and Wiring Question

The whole point was to have a flashing light up somewhere they could see before they ever stuck a big, yellow screwdriver in the door jamb or destroyed your sliding rear window. Something to give them pause before they ruin something.

    Dash/Stereo Progress and Wiring Question

After sitting all summer, I finally got the chance to dye the dash charcoal and assemble with new fancies from USA1, new a/c vents from LMC a couple of tweeters, a tach and finish my speaker box. I'm definitely pleased with the look thus far. While the dash and kick panels are out, I'd like to...

    Holley sniper install questions

I've seen many recommendations to use the wire that currently feeds the coil to trigger a relay that would then provide the Sniper with clean, switched power directly from the battery.

The 383 is finally going in!

It's easier if you can get the headers bungee-corded, roped, tied, etc. off to the side and set the engine down between them rather than trying to fish them up or down into place after the engine is set.

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

Got it resolved. The courtesy lamp didn't receive power unless the key was on. I don't know why but now it does and they work as they should. Thank you for all the suggestions. Shawn

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

Yeah, I did. This isn't my forte but I did. Well, the black from the headlight switch disappears into a tight bundle but all of the headlight functions work so that can't be it, can it.

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

Yeah, I don't flippin' know. Orange is constant-hot, door jamb switches kick on the dome light with the key off and everything with the key on. Courtesy lamp works with the rheostat and with the key on but not with the key off. I'm either going to have to stumble upon the fix or just let it...

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

I guess I need to figure out why I'm not getting power to that orange wire on the courtesy light unless the headlight switch is rolled or the key in "on." Ugh, this stuff isn't my forte.

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

I replaced both door jamb switches yesterday and the driver's side was definitely shot to hell. Now the dome light comes on when either door is opened but the courtesy lamp does not. It's been so long since I had a square that I don't even remember if it's supposed to. The courtesy lamp only...

Seeking carburetor guidance, vacuum vs mechanical secondary

What intake manifold is on it? For a decent test, warm it up and set the initial timing (vacuum advance removed and either line or port plugged) to 20*. Then attach the vacuum advance line to the manifold vacuum port on the carb and see how it responds to quick throttle input and hot restarts...

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

I haven't really had a chance to mess with it since I started the thread but I do have a full-voltage draw on the battery, the drivers door jamb switch is clearly shot so me thinks I should probably replace that before going any further. Does that make sense? Shawn

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

I've got two ground wires to that little dude on the e-brake; one for the tank selector switch and the other, I believe to be the courtesy lights. The lights will come on with the headlight switch and the passenger door will kick it on with the key in the run position but not in "off". I'm...

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

I appreciate that, Grit. I'll give it a good read in the morning. In the meantime, I replaced/adjusted the ignition switch and since I was in there, the wiper switch, headlight switch and dimmer switch. Same deal; voltmeter shows battery voltage regardless of key position. I think my next...

    Voltmeter and Courtesy Light Help

I've got an interesting situation on my 83 K10 where the voltmeter shows battery voltage regardless of key position and the courtesy lights will only come on with the key in the run position. The passenger side seems to be the only one that works unless that's part of the problem. Everything...

Correct timing and which vacuum port

If your new HEI is non-esc, you should be good to go as is. You run into trouble when you start doing things outside of what the computer is programmed for.
