Difference in 73/87 frame and an 88 frame

Thanks. Was hoping they were similar. I’ll just keep looking for the right frame. Anyone looking for a 88 frame, look in Cincinnati Craigslist.

Difference in 73/87 frame and an 88 frame

I’m new to Chevy trucks. I’m building a 1986 C10 stepside race truck. After taking bed off, I can see the frame was patched in a few places. The driver side frame rail is lower than passenger side by 1/2 inch. I will have horsepower in this truck and don’t want to mess with this frame. I found a...

    Axle flip problem

I'll get pictures of it in the morning. It's a belltech flip kit. It is putting the axle above the leaf springs. I removed overload spring also, because I'm putting caltracs on and that's what they suggest. Dropped me 7 inches. Hope it's not to low

    Axle flip problem

i did an axle flip on my 86 C10. The problem I have is the leaf spring plate is blocking my shock mount. Cannot get bolt through. Has anyone had this issue, is there an easy solution. I don’t have a welder on hand.

    12 bolt swap

Just did axle flip on it today, and have CalTracs to install. I guess I’ll just keep the 10 bolt and see what I can do with it. Do these rearends have c clips? If so, I’ll get different axles, carrier, and c clip eliminator. This is my first performance build. Learning experience

    12 bolt swap

im building a street/strip truck. Will be between 750 to 1000 horsepower. Truck currently has a 10 bolt. My truck is a 1986 C10 stepside. I’ve found a few 12 bolt rear ends out of mid to late 1970s chevy truck. My question is will this be a direct bolt in? Will I need to make any modifications?

    New rear bumpstop questions.

I removed my factory bump stops today. Putting in a c notch and axle flip kit. Truck had 2 inch drop shackles already. The c notch came with a bump stop.

    Brake booster with big block

I appreciate the help kim and nvrenuf. Are you able to get the valve cover off on the drivers side? Reason I ask is that this will be more of a strip/strip project. High compression with a solid cam. I'll be making adjustments quite often.

This is the hood for my 86 stepside project. It has been painted to match, with black stripes down the middle

    Brake booster with big block

Thanks. The 489 has tall valve covers, I bought the truck pretty much stripped down. I’m guessing a stock booster isn’t going to fit with engine in.
