8 lug chevy gmc 16 inch

Quad mounts for 81 K20 I would like to buy, from any member, the upper and lower (vertical ) shock mounts and the old shocks for the front quad shock system. My leaf springs (new 3 years ago ) almost bottom out with normal highway driving. It is hard on my hemmoroids when the truck is empty...

    NP205 yokes

I think the NP-205 transfer cases came with either a fixed rear yoke or a splined rear yoke depending on the vehicle manufacturer ( GM,FORD, Dodge ).

Find Out How Much Your Speedo Is Off

Another way to determine speedo error is to drive on the Interstate highway. Bring a friend with a watch with a second hand. If you concentrate on driving 60 mph according to the speedo, have your friend time in seconds the time it takes you to pass each mile markers on the Interstate. If you...

    250 6 cylinder - 4.1L engine

In the 1960's Pontiac produced a high performance straight six engine. The Pontiac Tempest ( I think ) used them. The Tempest was similar in size and weight to the Chevy Malibu. I don't know how similar the engines were to each other. They may have used the same engine block but with different...

    Supercharger question/feedback

Forget the supercharger! Put your money into a quality engine rebuild, a mild cam and port fuel injection. If it is an automatic trans purchase a 2400 rpm stall torque converter. The final result would be an engine that runs perfect on regular unleaded gas with instant throttle responce, good...

    quick question

In 1980 GM started using metric bolts for fenders and body fasteners. They could be quickly identified by their " blue " color. Any bolt on and in the enging or transmission was american. Eventually everything became metric.

    factory gauges to autometer

It is my opinion that VDO makes the highest quality guages. I have had to replace Cyberdyne and Autometer guages over time, however I have never replaced a VDO guage. The cost for the guages are very similar. The hassle is replacing it after a couple years. F.Y.I.

    Intermittent noise on deceleration?

Check the right motor mount, transmission mount ( also passenger side crossmember bolts ). Normally the engine torque pulls on the drivers ( left ) side in acceleration, conversly the right side tries to rise ( pull ) on deceleration. Worn mounts or loose bolts will cause the engine to pulsate...

    service engine light

1987 was the first year of almost fuel injection. I believed GM used EGR, O2 sensors, electric feedback carbs, knock sensors, and electronic ( not vacuum or mechanical ) distributors. If the engine light comes on after 20 -40 minutes driving, try dropping down one gear ( if you can do it safely...

    350 keeps dieseling

Back in the late 70s - mid 80s the easiet ( and no cost ) solution was to turn off the ignition in drive, then place in park. The drag of the transmission instantly stoped the motor ( no dieseling ). Solution #2 buy a new anti-dieseling solinoid used on a 1980 Suburban 350. It mounts on the...

NP203, NP205, NP208 Differentiating Power to front and rear axles.

Without rear positraction the RR and LF tires did the pulling on pre 88 Chevy trucks. On 88 - current (?) the RF and RR do the pulling. This later set up would reduce torque steering when the vehicle is in 4wd and turning on pavement. Several years ago I read someware the power is split 30%...

Hi gang! I have a 1981 Chevy K20. I would like to install front quad shocks but don't know where to obtain the shock brackets. LMC catalog showed the Right upper brace for a quad shock but not the left or how they connect to the axle. Please advise. The leaf springs were replaced a few years...
