    Anybody recognize these wheels?

I bought a trailer with these wheels on it and I'm trying to figure out what they came from. Looks like it used to be an axle from an old truck. Note the very wide lug pattern. Thanks

    Air Hose

I second the Flexzilla hose. I live near Vancouver Wa, and don't have any problems in cold weather (rarely gets much below freezing).

    Lights on top of fender?

Ok, so no big deal if I cover the holes. I won't be destroying some rare fender that someone else needs...

    Lights on top of fender?

Just bought a fender to replace the crunched one on my Suburban. I noticed it has 2 lights on the top of the fender, one towards the front and one towards the back. Is this some kind of option or aftermarket thing? I was going to cover them up.

    Sealer on intake manifold

These are great points... I would like to add that the instructions for "The Right Stuff" indicate that you run the bead of RTV, then install the part within 5 minutes, while it is still wet. The instructions also state that it seals instantly and that you torque it and put it back in service...

Thinking about a "high-lift" jack stand (pair)

I'm working on a pair of high-lift jack stands for when I need a little extra room underneath the truck. I've got 1/4" plates 12"x11", and 2.5" square tube 1/4" thick. I welded the tube to the plate, now I need to make gussets and weld them on. I want to use a piece of 2"x2" tube to slide...

    Starving for Fuel!?!?

I'm curious if you ever solved your problem.

    Starving for Fuel!?!?

Try running with the gas cap loosened a turn or so. Could be vacuum in the fuel tank as you're driving and using fuel. That fuel should be displaced by air, but if there's a blockage, then when you use enough fuel then a partial vacuum is created in the air space inside the tank, which won't...

    Cant Stop, wont stop.

Just out of curiousity... What speed were you travelling at when you tried to lock up your brakes? It's been my experience that locking up your brakes is easier at 50mph vs 20mph. A couple other things are at play in your scenario as well. Worn shocks can contribute to longer stopping...

I lost the plate for my engine stand!

I moved from Sacramento to Vancouver, WA and somehow in the move, the plate for my engine stand got lost. Rather than buy one, I'm making a new one. I don't get to use the plasma cutter as often as I'd like, so the slots aren't perfect.

Push button starter and toggle switch

If you're going to do this, please ensure that your pushbutton is in series with your neutral start switch, so that your truck isn't accidentally started while in gear. I had a friend do this and he didn't have a problem for a little over a year, then he had to let his wife borrow his car and...

Made a power pod last week

Made a power pod for my electrical accessories. It has 2 cigarette lighters and a USB qc3.0 charger for fast charging. Cost less than 50 bucks to make.

    Made a new tool

Working on a friend's carburetor, I decided I needed a carb stand. Got some scrap from the fabrication bay at work and made one. I could have just ordered one for less than 40 bucks, but it's fun to make things.

    Made an accessory fuse block

The larger Deutsch connector has 2 12 guage wires that supply power to most of the circuits. I'm pulling power from the junction block on the firewall. I'm making a harness from that to supply the fusebox and then from the box to the accessories that it powers. When it's done, I'll post some...

    Made an accessory fuse block

This is the datasheet for the box. We got a bunch of them from a vendor to use as samples. Our electrical engineers said they had some spares and I could take them if I wanted. I actually have a few from different brands because vendors are always bringing us stuff to test...

    Some useful data (possibly)

Our instrumentation lab won't calibrate tire pressure gauges for us. But they do our tape measures, calipers, torque wrenches etc. I received a 6 inch Harbor Freight digital caliper last Christmas, so I took it in to be calibrated and it passed. I haven't taken in my cheaper torque wrenches...

    Some useful data (possibly)

To answer both questions. 1- We can use whatever brand we want as long as it passes calibration. Most of the techs use Fluke 2- It didn't do too terrible. The DC volts readings were all within 5%, which is our standard for passing. It was resistance below 200 Ohms that it failed. Other than...

    Made an accessory fuse block

Hey all. I made an accessory fuse block and mounting bracket. (OK I didn't make the fuse block, but I did the layout and insert the connector receptacles). It has circuits for CB/Ham radio, front/rear LEDs, and power taps for phone/device charging. The wiring came from work. I just used some...

    Some useful data (possibly)

At work, we have to have our personal measuring tools calibrated (We have a lab onsite that does this for us). I went to Harbor Freight and picked up some tools for something I'm working on at home and got one of those free multimeters that they love to give out. Just for kicks, I brought it...

    Missouri safety inspection no CATS

For what it's worth... Even if you live in a state where your vehicle is subject to emissions inspection, if your truck didn't originally come equipped with cats, you won't be required to add aftermarket units to your truck. For example, my 86 k20 never came with cats from the factory, but I can...

    What is this?

I can help! I have that on my 86 k20 suburban (350,CA emissions) The relay uses a speed signal from the distributor to activate a solenoid that holds the throttle open a certain amount. To prevent lean backfire when decelerating. The solenoid is mounted where the thermostat housing bolts to the...

Need help with an acceleration issue

Ok gents. It seems to run much much better now. I can floor it from a stop sign and not worry about it stalling and embarrassing me. Thank you all for your help. As I progress in the repairing/rebuilding journey, I'm sure I will draw upon your knowledge many times. Now I get to go see if she'll...
