    Blower fan not working

For anyone else that may be looking for the part number of the wiring harness plug, you can get it (still!) through the dealer or through Amazon. The part number is 12085493. Here is the Amazon link. It comes with enough wire and connectors to splice into the existing wiring. I am planning...

87 Suburban Rear Inner Fenders Repair?

We noticed today that we had some water seepage inside the cab near the rear speakers, so I went looking in the fender wells. We live in the Seattle area where is tends to rain a bit, so I thought that the water might be coming from a rusted area in there. Well, on both side I have at least a...

    Blower fan not working

I appreciate the link! I was able to source the switch locally but at some point I will need replace the plug that connected to it. That was what I was originally asking about.

    Blower fan not working

So, the truck still has the issue but it would seem to be better. Does anyone know where I can source a replacement plug for the harness that plugs into that A/C Heater Control switch?

    Blower fan not working

I found the issue: when GM built the truck, they ran too many wires over the harness for the temp/heater selector (the slide for A/C, vent, defrost, etc). Consequently, the plug was weighed down over time causing a short or light contact situation. You can see from the attached pics the switch...

    Blower fan not working

I have an 87 Suburban that will turn the blower on at all the speeds (usually) but it will then stop blowing until I switch to a lower speed. At first it would only do it on HI, then it started doing it on HI and the next step down. Now, occasionally, it won't even turn on but if you leave it...

I thought I had this nailed....[front end pull]

Great information! Just reading over that brought up the wheel bearings. I remember they looked good when I rebuilt the front end but I didn't replace them. Just repacked and reinstalled. Hmmm....

I thought I had this nailed....[front end pull]

As I am reading up on potential issues, I'm learning that toe-in/toe-out can be a factor here (alignment). I wonder if the toe needs to be set more "in"? Since these trucks didn't come with the drag link to balance out the pitman arm, I seem to recall that they were more susceptible to things...

I thought I had this nailed....[front end pull]

So, when I bought my V2500 it pulled to the right when stopping. That was a little over 2 years ago and I've done a lot of work since then. Included in that was new brakes on all 4 wheels, new shocks, and I rebuilt the front end completely. Today, after all this time I thought for sure that...

Strange issue coming out of park

So, I did a little troubleshooting today. I noticed that when the truck is started and you move the gear selector toward reverse (and it binds a bit), then the ignition "pops" back, the parking brake light goes out and the truck will then shift into gear just fine. So, is there a spring that...

Strange issue coming out of park

We've been noticing times when the V2500 Suburban won't come out of park. As a warning that we are about to have the issue, the truck's parking brake light will be on when we start the truck (and stay on). The parking brake system is working fine and in these instances it is not set. In fact...

Bypass and remove the "height sensing" proportioning valve?

I did look at thay but, sadly, my V2500 setup is slightly different. The rear brake hose isn't mounted like yours. Take a look at the picture in my post and you'll see what I mean.

Bypass and remove the "height sensing" proportioning valve?

Well, since I don't have the tools and time to fix this, I brought it to the mechanic that handled the motor swap for me. He's done great work but today he let me know that GM decided to make one of the lines 9/16" which is apparently a very odd size. The custom hydraulic line shop he uses...

Bypass and remove the "height sensing" proportioning valve?

Hello everyone, I was out doing some rear axle maintenance today and noticed that the rear proportioning valve was wet. So, I moved the linkage and quickly got drips from the valve itself (not the lines going into it). This part has obviously failed. Nobody has a replacement and I've read...

Can't figure this out...TBI and hesitating on acceleration

So, I spent all day Saturday working on this. I replaced the fuel filter, air filter, and PCV valve as maintenance items while I was there. The fuel filter wasn't the issue. I also replaced the coil (new with the new motor mentioned in the OP) with a new Accel coil-still no solution. I...

Can't figure this out...TBI and hesitating on acceleration

Nope...you read it right: 30K. How often is it supposed to be changed? The timing was checked within the last month and a half or so. The truck was doing something similar when the ICM died. I suppose the ICM could be bad again after a couple of weeks... I'm going to replace the fuel filter...

How to fix loose gm steering column

Thanks. They were requesting some exploded diagrams from the dealer yesterday to figure it out. Once this is complete, it will be out of the shop and off to the next one to get a new radio and keyless entry.

How to fix loose gm steering column

Hello everyone. I am working to "refresh" an 87 3/4 ton 4WD Suburban for use pulling a 30-35' travel trailer. The motor was rebuilt by a shop for a prior owner and is in good shape. I have rebuilt the front end (drag link, tie rod ends, ball joints, steering stabilizer), replaced the power...

    Tightening up that loose steering?

New here, and I plan to tell a bit more later, but I'm trying to assemble a list of parts to replace the steering on my 87 V2500 Suburban and I found this drawing (exactly what I need). Do you have the page that shows the number to name? In brief, I am wanting to replace the upper and...
