Fix this Paint? Any ideas that I do not have to repaint the whole Suburban?

Ah the infamous GM peeling clearcoat.....

    16.5 to 16 wheels 1977 Chevy C20

Phord used a dog dish hubcap on their 8 lug trucks....I don't know if the center hole/hub size is the same or compatible with the GM though. The 400 series 2500/3500 either had Argent (silver)steel wheels with center caps, or white wheels with full wheel covers. Silverado had chrome plastic...

Just how much of a moron am I?

    I know our 84 C10 Burb had a 700-R4, I don't recall what the 81 Sierra shop truck had behind its 305. Might have been a 350C....

Will 1990 Suburban front seats swap into a 1990 K5 Blazer?

They should be the same base, and tracks....1990 is square body Burb and Blazer. I used to have one with those blue velour buckets.... There may be armrest differences, I don't remember exactly how that truck was(been a while since I had it). I do have a pair of used blue velour buckets from the...

What parts do you carry with you?

Yup, big cap HEI, I think the rotor in all applications is Blue Streak #DR318X. We used them in all our rigs, much longer life than the cheap white ones.

What parts do you carry with you?

In 1975, my folks and I took a trip to see my aunt and uncle in NW New Mexico, about 900 miles each way from Houston, in our well maintained 70 Pontiac LeMans 4 door. Dad had gone over the car, bumper to bumper, before we left, but he still had plenty of spare parts and tools in the trunk...

What parts do you carry with you?

I need to do something like that with my CCSB. I have some tools and stuff stored behind the rear seat, but a dedicated box would be better. On the rear seat behind the driver's seat, I have a plastic storage box with my factory shop manuals, and an HEB folding six pack container with the cans...

    TBI/center bolt valve cover options

I want to say there are magnesium and aluminum versions of these. I missed out on a set in the Northside LKQ last year, on an 80s Vette, because it was during the time when my truck was down. I've seen both types listed on eBay, haven't had a set in hand to see which one it was.

14 Bolt 10.5" Rear Axle -FOUND-

They did that on the GMT 400s too. My CCSB is a C2500 HD 8 lug, 8600# gvwr, but has the semi floating axle. IIRC the FF was an option on the 2500, standard on the 3500.

Those baby buckets are too cool, I want some now....

    Exhaust manifolds,these look interesting

I'd think they would tuck in to the engine nicely, since a GMT 400 chassis/engine compartment is a bit tighter than an early (73-80) square body truck.

14 Bolt 10.5" Rear Axle -FOUND-

Actually I have one out of a one ton square body, IIRC it's got 4.10 gears. Believe it came out of a C30....was many years ago, at the original Houston pick your part before LKQ bought em out.

Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc

Found two 88-94 center consoles at the SW Houston LKQ today; the blue one is the rare dished lid that's only on some 94 Burbs. It's nice and complete, just needs a little bit of cleaning.

    Beauty Rings/With or Without

The deeper rings "may" be the later style.... I've seen them on more trucks than the shallow style. The shallow style is what Dad used on the 78 GMC Sierra shop truck with the Chevy Sport wagon wheels, and I think he used those on the steelies on the 79 Burb. The deeper rings are what the set my...

I Spy A Cool GM Truck

The group shot is at my buddy Richard's house; he'd been working on the doors on my gold truck. He's backing it out of the garage and driveway... it's a bit tight and the driveway is a high slope. The dark red truck in the driveway is his wife's truck, the silver and red one is his. He also has...

And mine of course, Lil Truck O' Gold: The blue one is not mine, just a well cared for 400 that lives a pampered life in West University Place; I see it on my morning commute.

Suburban Tailgate - Glass won't go higher than 2/3 full stroke

There is a safety switch on the electric window tailgate, but IIRC (been many years since Dad and I rebuilt one) it only keeps the window from functioning IF the tailgate is down/open. We had to bypass this switch to run diagnostics on power window 'gates that we had issues with. We never had a...

What have you done to your square lately??

Then we had four in the family, and my brother and dad were both tall with big feet, Dad was a big dude. So the Charger or a Burb would have been the best options. We didn't have Burb at that time that would've made the trip reliably...in July, with functional AC. It's 1000 miles from Houston to...

Chevy k10 rally wheel beauty rings

This is the 15x8 truck Rallye with one of the trim rings used; these wheels are pretty popular with the H Town OBS crowd.

    C30, 85 with a narrow dually

Not sure about squares, but on the 400/OBS cab& chassis trucks they are 135.5" wheelbase instead of 131.5" so yes, 4" longer. This causes a gap with a standard bed, plus the frame rails are made differently to allow fitment of "standard" work bodies. I would figure square body trucks are built...
