Draining a steering gear box

Whats the secret? Is there a drain plug on it?

I've never seen a drain plug on a GM steering gear. Drain pan beneath, disconnect hoses, cycle steering full travel each direction several times. Not sure of your goal, but you could flush it by unhook 1 line and introduce new fluid in the other port and cycle steering as well.

I would do the second option so you don't run anything dry. Flush the fluid out by shoving the hose in a big bottle of new fluid. If you're trying to do a repair you'll just have to make a mess lol, unless you're taking it off the frame.

I'm pulling it to refurb.....like everything else on the truck. Just trying to get it to stop puking everywhere.

No drain plug that I've ever seen. Just remove and do fluid drip control....

Yeah, evacuate PS reservoir, catch what drips out of the return, hope for the best.
