does anybody know of a plastic kit for a late 80s long bed 4x4? I’m looking to recreate my 86 k20 custom deluxe. I’m thinking I might have to use the Silverado trim grille because I can’t find any with single headlights like mine.

Take a look here:

The M1008 CUCV has a 131.5" wheelbase, so I assume that's a 7' bed, and is based off of a K30, but is a 1-1/4 ton instead of a 1 ton.

This is currently available as a 1 /43 diecast from IXO ( Evil bay etc. ). Otherwise I would look for a monogram 1 24 C10 kit, and modify with printed parts that are available ( i'd try a google image search to find the parts you want ). There are no off the shelf later model squarebody plastic kits that I am aware of - they are all the 73 - 79 style, not the later straight fender models.

131.5" WB is an 8' bed. The short box squares are 117.5" WB IIRC. That kit looks really nice, too bad it's in 1/35 scale which is popular for military models but not so great for the automotive modelers. Closest we have is 1/32....

Agree on the scale for automotive modelers, wish I could get one in 1/25 scale, however I mostly build 1/35 military models, and also dabble in 1/1 scale military vehicles as well.

you do got a couple of choices. you can scratch one, or get a resin one. i myself prefer to build my own as you will need two kits to stretch the frame out as well, driveshafts, etc, etc, etc
there quite easy to stretch, i think i even have a pic showing where to cut them. i have stretched out 5 or 6 squares to long boxes, a couple of 67-72's and a couple of 64-66 chevs as well. i do belive the model kit manufactors are missing a big part of the model market not offering long boxes. personally i wouldn't stretch a revell truck ever again, there multi piece and a real pia, the amt '84 gm is prob the best square model going right now. box is one piece and easy to stretch and it's not hard to turn the 4 headlight into 2 by converting the bottom lights to signals.
if you don't feel like stretching one, MAD has an 8 ft they cast as does danny putman. there are a few others casting 8 footers, some are good, some aren't
