    Awesome read, glad you pulled the trigger. I had a j code 6.2 with a 4 speed in a crew cab square, pulled round bales on a gooseneck trailer and never failed me. got good mpg unloaded. I should have kept that truck, I miss it.

    Is your square a 3/4 ton already?

    no power on ac wire to compressor

    Start the truck and turn the a/c on. Disconnect the low pressure switch and do a monentary jumper to see if you get power to the compressor then. If so you either have a low pressure condition or a bad low pressure switch.

    Width of a Gm 12 bolt 1973-1987

    Many of these old squares ( 1/2 ton) had the 12 bolt rear end. I am looking to upgrade my daily driver rear end and want to keep it a 5 lug. Anyone know the width of these 12 bolt from Wheel mating surface to wheel mating surface?

    SOLD 14 bolt ff 6-lug conversion hub for SALE!

    SF is a GREAT upgrade to the crapy 10 bolt. Best you can hope for without lathe wirkd and going to a FF 14. The SF is a rock solid rear end and they are dirt cheap if you look hard enough,. I did the FF14 conversion to my old 92 Z, But I michined down the center hubs and drilled the drums...

    I saw the add when searching EBAY. ( I havent been here in awhile) A little steep for the amount of rust. I agree I would pay more for ummolested version than someone elses started project. I say keep it an finish it.. They are cool old trucks.

    This happens alot. my crew showed 16, but compare that to real miles (gps) and it was closer to 13 at best.
