Sort of a shame that there is the head gasket issues. Starts and runs well.

Got it home and on the ground. First thing to deal with is the shifter. It is sort of nebulous and you really don't know exactly what gear you are in. But, it backed itself off the trailer under it's own power. One of the things that I find really interesting is that it appears to have the original windshield or an older replacement. It still has the in glass antenna in place.

I do believe that is an aftermarket glass, due to the info on that label.

I should mention that I'm not trying to pick the car apart. I wish my car came with a nice aftermarket windshield and not the cracked/foggy original, lol.

No problem at all. I haven't seen a replacement windshield in years with the antenna actually in there. I just assumed it was older.

This thing is truly a pile that we are working back in to a track car and possibly on the street at some point. No offense taken to anything on this thing. I bought it right knowing that it was pieced together.

That looks like a nice fun little project. Sucks about the head gasket though man. My first Camaro was a 1980 that sent me down a rabbit hole with those things lol. I had the same 79 cowl induction hood that was functional. Paid $125 for it back in 91 iirc. Was my high school sweetheart for many many years. Built a 355 sbc pushing 10.5:1 compression with a crap ton of work done to it. Was originally a 229 V6 3 spd Saginaw, but over the years turned into a strip beast! Best run on her was a 10.86 @ 118mph at Bunker Hill in Indiana back in 93. This brings back a lot of those memories, hope this one can bring you a lot of good memories as well!

Thank you. We are looking forward to the challenges.

In a stroke of luck, I ended up buying the wheels pictured above from a gentleman that runs a restoration shop and has 2 second gen Camaro's in his building as we speak, one a beautiful '79 that her restored for his daughter. I was able to pick his brain a little about a few things that I'm seeing already and he is going to be a great resource as this project progresses.

Those Eagle ST's are evidently an extremely durable tire. They haven't made them in decades, but they are still seen on classic summertime drivers around here on a regular basis.

They can be a challenge for sure. Bought mine in my freshman year in school. Guy I bought it from originally purchased it in Van Nuys CA and was relocated to AZ for about 10 yrs, then got relocated to Indiana for about a year and was being relocated again and refused to drag it across country again. Not a spot of rust on the car, but the interior was dry rotted from the sun something awful, picked up that gem for a whopping $650 lol.

Always loved those rims, such a classic look to them!

LOL...yeah, he threw those in when I got there tonight. $75 for the wheels and 2 old tires which, I thought was a really good deal. I need something factory in case I would ever apply for PA historical plates. So, I figured that I would get them now when they became available.

This car has to have an interesting back story on it. I do know for sure that it was purchased out of an estate when the owner died during restoration. The gentleman that I bought it from worked through the title process, got it running and then I bought it from him. It's sort of a mystery as to how it all came together. But, what is there is solid.
