The amount of volume it takes is MINISCULE! @59840Surfer can you show us this law that states it's illegal? I suppose driving with ever so slightly out of adjustment rear brakes is illegal then too? Because that has a MUCH bigger effect on brake performance than the amount of fluid needed to operate that brake controller.
Guys got the attitude of an inspector(condescending dick)! So he probably ain't lyin about THAT part at least lolol

The amount of volume it takes is MINISCULE! @59840Surfer can you show us this law that states it's illegal? I suppose driving with ever so slightly out of adjustment rear brakes is illegal then too? Because that has a MUCH bigger effect on brake performance than the amount of fluid needed to operate that brake controller.

The '90-'91 Suburbans and K5s have rear wheel ABS. I don't remember if the crew cabs do.

You never know, he could be the type of guy that drives around with a pressure gauge on the front and rear circuit and a pressure sensor on his brake pedal, then tallies up all the figures on a daily spreadsheet. And also lubes his caliper sliders everyday and adjusts his rear brakes every 3rd day.

On second thought, nevermind. He would have to throw out all the results because the pressure sensors use more volume of fluid than the old style brake controllers.

Cant add capacity to the system!!

Damn I wonder how all the limos and airport taxis and any other extra long vehicle could even have brakes?!?! Everyone thats ever rode in a limo must be dead!

Let's not even speak of tandem axles :rofl:

Also multiple trucks with those controllers and I've never seen a brake warning light come on in my life...

You'll never catch me with that junk. Phone and stereo Bluetooth is already enough of a pain sometimes. With a trailer? Nah no thanks.

It uses brake fluid in a dead-end circuit to activate a plunger that moves a multi-fingered resistor to activate the trailer brakes.

IT USES FLUID VOLUME --- it is illegal on any vehicle with dual master cylinder systems.

Period.

Full stop.

I don't know nor care what the intentions are from the posters with doctorates in Hydraulogy - or whatever it is here --- it is illegal because it steals fluid from the rear brakes unless some brainfart installed it in the front brake system --- then all hell breaks loose.

The system being unbalanced, will then produce vastly inferior and dangerous braking effort

You will go blind because of the BRAKE light staying on all the time.
Hahahaha your posts remind me of a conversation yesterday. Some friends brother in law was in town for a family deal this weekend. The guy is some sort of inspector for L&I here. (Washington’s very own state run version of OSHA….)
Apparently he literally spent the weekend beating his chest about safety. Even commenting on safe and unsafe things he observed at people’s houses he was visiting! He has been labeled the douche of that family.

I don't know what the OP was, but we don't have safety inspections at all now in Texas. Just emissions. Kinda scary. Can't figure the logic in that. Some people don't know what danger their in or what's wrong until inspection.

eh, other states never have done them and we only sometimes go off the road with blown brake lines or rotted frames.

Yeppers and bald tires. Really, it's just some of the drivers playing Nascar. WTF? 70 speed limit here is dangerous .

Emissions = Federally mandated . Can't escape it in larger counties.

Safety = Not required by the Feds.

FREEDOM! :rofl:

I actually 100% follow you about safety inspections but it is (now) what it is.
