I am dropping a 5.3/4L60E into my K5. I am using a fixed motor mount adapter from ICT billet that claims stock location, and an adapter for the transmission from Advance Adapters that goes between the transmission and the transfer case adapter. Overall, the 4L60E will end up 5/8” longer than the 700r4. Advance adapters tech support says this is a non issue and the slip yoke will make up for it. I know once I get the motor and transmission in I will see where it falls based on the stock crossmember location, but I am expecting the rear driveline to be slightly shorter and the front to be slightly longer. I will measure at this time but until then I am just wondering what your guys thoughts are based on what Advance had to say. If it does in fact move everything back 5/8” will the slip yoke make up for it? I suppose another option is adjustable motor mounts but then I would be pushing the oil pan into the front cross member.

Is the truck stock height with original GM shafts still? If so, yeah it *should* be fine. If it's lifted with stock shafts, the rear should be perfectly fine, but the front may be too short.

Hi Bucket, yes it’s stock height and OE GM shafts. I do plan on maybe a subtle ~2” lift after it’s running and driving. So not for a little while

K5Rob, how was the oil pan clearance to the crossmember, stock location or 5/8” forward? Was notching required?

Pan clearance was fine, i think i went 5/8 forward due to transmission length (4L60E) YMMV
