Havened seen anyone mention this here. I just swapped out my old rag joint steering shaft for a C3500 steering shaft. C3500 steering shaft has a u-joint connection at the gear box. Safer than the XJ swap since the connection at the column is with a normal cross bolt compared to the clamp style of the XJ steering shaft. Steering play has been drastically reduced with the C3500 shaft.

Good to know. Thats why I drilled mine for that cross bolt. Might wanna post this info in the intermediate shaft post as well. If it's there already, it'll be a reminder.

What year c3500 did you use for application?

I chose same year as my suburban 1990
I wonder why my 1991 GMC 2wd 3500 doesn't have one? Thats what i want it for. Must have been replaced once before I got it.

I'm not exactly sure but I believe only the HD 3500s got them, over a certain gross weight

I just completed the steering shaft swap on my 80 C10 with a new Borgeson steering box and new Edelman pump. I used the Dorman part listed above. It was a perfect match and made a huge difference. I love this forum!
