Here’s another what’s it worth?
78 Heavy half. 350 auto no AC truck. Supposedly orig 100k mile Grampa truck and looks like it.
Bone stock and looks 40 years old under the hood. Rest looks original including paint. Looks like new seat, dash pad and carpet. Very Clean interior except faded door panels.
Rust on 1 front fender. Looks legit original all around.

And what would a matching set of vintage turbines and that topper sell for?
I like the turbines but that topper and wheels could offset some of the purchase price.

Great truck! But that cap is hideous and why did they paint the mirrors?

Up in the Snow Belt 10k easy. Than again it looses money for being a Longbed. It being stock looses money for some stupid reason.

Yes the topper has to go, and you might get 200 for it. They just aren't in high demand. The wheels are cool, but they are only 15s too. You might get a couple, few hundred for them. The running boards are trash.

Unfortunately our trucks come with a ton of problems , because of the age. Wiring, old motors that were good for the time, but have become obsolete. Transmissions that have been replaced by better equipment. That's just my two cents...

Well, it's still for sale and he's asking less than your Texas number! (Of course, there could be some hidden issues, haven't seen it in person yet)
And I'm still thinkin about it...
I agree, the shell is BFUgly. But I recall some folks, probably on this forum, getting all horned up over these old school toppers, so maybe??
Wheels, personally I like them, if they're in good shape. 15s are fine for now, cheap tires, looks cool. Mirrors, gotta go, but those are dime a dozen and a 2 beer job. Running boards, need to be removed. Again, I think there was someone just looking for some of these.

Agree, still an old truck and old stuff and some issues just due to "old". But also can diagnose almost any issue on the truck by simply looking at/listening to it. And still super simple, cheap/widely available parts.

Now that IS funny! This one definitely fits the bill of ugly with windows in weird places!

Even the ones with slider windows (like the back of a Blazer) aren't too bad. But I agree that single small octagonal window is weird, though would be good for a capmer conversion maybe. That's an odd one though because it's such a specific color scheme, I feel like it needs to stay with that truck to be worth anything. Someone out there would see that truck how it sits and think it's totally awesome, but on its own someone might buy that cap if they really needed one and didn't mind that it looks completely out place on their truck. The wheels are super cool and I don't think being 15s make them any less valuable, I would gladly pay $500 or so for a nice set of 15" hurricanes (always hear them called different stuff not sure what is correct, pretty much just like your turbines but with a few less spokes), and I'm sure there's someone that feels the same way about your wheels.

Yeah, the hurricane/turbine wheels are just old school cool. The topper was obviously paint matched to the truck (and very nicely paneled inside, all it needs is some shag carpet back there and :party36:(did they remove the humping smiley?)). But I think it looks :gayfight:!

If you go full shag, there's a law (just has to be) that you need to display a "if this truck is rockin, dont bother knockin' bumper sticker too.

Went and looked at the truck this weekend. It is absolutely as nice as it looks, maybe better!
Had been sitting for quite a while not started or run, looked like maybe for months (spider webs in the wheel wells and cab and a starting to grow moss on the paint). Fired right off and ran perfectly!
Seller is about the sketchiest wanna be gang banger used car salesman (I'm talking 30 year old 5 ft nothing, 400+lb , slicked back hair, gold chains, smoking a stogie at 9am in his Escalade kind of guy! Seriously...the only time he got out of his car was to hand me the keys and that's only because there was no way he was reaching in his pocket while his front butt was stuffed behind the steering wheel! That alone was worth the trip! lol)
I believe the back story on the truck, still had note pad sheets and business cards clipped to the visor that were definitely from the "88 year old former owner". Greasy as hell underneath, but no drips on the parking lot.
1 single stage re-paint, probably from decades ago and in very good shape for it's age.

Bottom line, I need another truck like a hole in the head and he still thinks he's selling it in Minnesooota or Vermont, not the land of rust free trucks here.
Who knows, maybe it won't sell for a while longer and he'll come down on price.... Do want, don't need...hahaha

Another week later and another $500 price drop, it’s still for sale.
Think I’ll keep chipping away at the guy. Within $500 of what I told myself that my top dollar was. But for something I literally have no practical need or use for and frankly am out of garage stalls to park it in, I’m still on the fence…
Squares don’t seem to be moving as fast or as expensive as, say, last year.
Supposition on my part but I feel the “Covid projects” vehicles inflated prices for a while because now I see more adds “bought last year, did ______ to it. Still needs ______, no time to work on it.” like this.

The struggle is real...LOL I'm a firm believer in "Everything happens for a reason" I think its funny some of the guys like you described. They think because they saw a car or truck sell at Barret Jackson for 75K, well hell mine should bring 25K all day long. When in realty it a 5K car or truck. I wouldn't buy it unless you feel right about it. I have paid more than I should have for a few different vehicles in my life, and usually regretted it.

I just passed on a 86 Short Wide two weeks ago. It ran OK, 305 and a TH350, He tried to tell me it was a 400 with a cam, and head work done. It had the typical problems our trucks have. A 16 year old kid thought he increased the value of it by doing a crap job of lowering it. Cut the front coil springs, and told me it had 4 inch drop spindles. Put some shackle bars on it is the best way I can explain it. So the rear axle was not centered in the wheel well, it was a couple of inches toward the rear. He put some Equis (I think that how you spell it) gauges in and told me the were better than Auto Meter...There is a **** ton more stuff that was poorly tried to up grade I guess? Than he told me the price...I laughed in the kids face. Told him all the money I was going to spend to fix his "up grades" I give him maybe a third. He called me last Wednesday, wanted to know if I was still interested he was willing to come down a little in price. I told him I gave you my number, and I wouldn't pay anything more. He said he'll have to talk with his dad.

I believe those front caps are worth 100-200 bucks depending on how bad someone wants them. But for every one of those people, there's probably 10 people that say they are just regular ol 20 dollar caps.

Can I play this game?

I'd like an honest opinion worth on my 1 ton s10 blazer. I wouldn't ever sell the thing as it's my "first vehicle" but a dollar amount would be cool, even if it's just a "that thing is garbage"
