sadly the reason my suburnan died was not the coil even though the coil was clanking around in its housing. it is the ignition module, and i am not going to buy a brand new ignition module when i can buy a brand new or reman distributor.

i know these came with defective reluctor wheels that crack, so i want an updated design. acdelco distributors are 250 bucks and do not come with a cap and rotor and i am not sure if they even fixed the reluctor wheel design.

i bought a carquest distributor for like 150 in the store for my 2 door tahoe, but i haven't had it long enough to know if it will with stand the test of time

anyone who has experience with current distributors on the market, please chime in

I've been using an accel for quite a while on the "mighty do all" suburban

There's alot of skeptics regarding the accel electronic dizzy, but here I am, using it almost everyday, for tows, Long drives, street fun, daily driving, etc.

Our module just died on us the other day.
We just replaced the module to get it back on the road that night.

But I also have a Proform distributor that is going to be swapped into the Suburban in the coming future as it will have a new AC Delco D1987 pickup stator installed per the Harris Tuning website.
Here is a great upgrade link:

If you get a spectra premium NEW distributor, you'll actually be buying a WIA manufactured distributor. If this matters to you WIA is a Korean manufacture, but they are building some darn good parts. We've started using them at the shop when A/C delco is no longer available or practical. Steer clear from cardone. We don't use Accel distributors, so I don't feel like I can comment on that brand.

ive been keeping mine going with used parts i find at the dump and broken down vehicles on the property lol. i think it's 4 or 5 used ignition modules and 1 distributor swap so far since i got to town. however, i cannot count on those parts when i need them and also am getting tired of f'ing with it.i mistakenly bought a brand new blue streak ignition coil(anyone have experience with these?), so i figure a brand new distributor will match perfectly

i may be able to source another used unit in town but like i said im getting tired of replacing used parts

im more of a turbo guy. i do have a wrecked 05 2500 with a 6.0 and 4l80. low miles. idk if i want that in my suburban or my 2 door tahoe. i got a 454 th400 2wd dually from the dump earlier this year, i am most likely going to turn my suburban into a 1 ton 4wd plow truck with that 454, and the tahoe can be a mud racer

good to know acdelco fixed it, if i ever get the money and need another tbi for the road i will order from them

No I'm not sure where Spectra originated, but they have a US address. Spectra does not manufacture or rebuild any distributors themselves they are all reboxed, at least for the squares they are reboxed WIA's. WIA also makes a great new wiper motor for squares that is dead ringer for the out of production A/C Delco unit. I think we paid about $130 for our last distributor.
