My 75 has had its steering wheel duct tapped entirely so I am in the hunt for a good used one. My question is did they only have one option for the steering wheel? I'm trying to use the same style as it came with.

I think about 4 or 5 depending on manual or power steering(maybe it was rv/truck), n02 I think is the rpo for alternate steering wheel. It has a different button and design. then there is the later 80s early 90s with the gmt 400esquenwheel I THINK came on the late year squares but maybe it’s just swapped oftenheres that alt steering wheel

Has different horn pad. But I don’t have that in garage it came in gmc and Chevy

It’s obviously seen better days lol

but they should all interchange so it’s really down to what you find and what you like. I have some real raggedy sun baked stuff if you’re into that but idk why you would

Ok thanks for the response. I pulled the trigger on one and bought it. Looks to be the same as what is on the truck minus the duct tape.

you prob have the very most common one then. The large OD Wheel wasn’t used all that much but it was the same design.

I vote for this wheel

I like that steering wheel too.

But this is a post foul! No fair posting a medium duty square truck without stating that it is a medium duty.:rolleyes:

I have one of the GMT400 types on my 1985. Not sure if it was born with it but it looks decent. Eventually I am replacing it with a grant and I would offer it to you but it's needed right now to wheel around the driveway.

@rpcraft,

Wow! Where'd you get the wooden dash and trim piece over there?

I don't have any opinion on the steering wheels. I believe a person should go ahead and put what he likes on his truck. I chunked mine when I rebuilt my Square and got a Grant racing type wheel. As it turned out the forward shape pushed it towards my chest in such a way where it was similar to the NASCAR wheels that seem to be in the drivers chest. Mine is a lot closer than stock and was perfect for my disabilities with my neck and arms. I can't hold my arms out in front of me for very long. It's to painful. The reason why the NASCAR steering wheels are like they are is for that reason, so as to relieve fatigue off the drivers shoulders, arms, and neck. The things they can't afford to get tired and maintain control over the car.

What "modern" cars had the steering columns that you could pull out or push in for comfort? Wasn't there some car that had that? Seems to me I remember something like that. Maybe some '60's car? Anyone know?

It was a 50's or 60's car, maybe oldsmobile or Pontiac or Cadillac. I know 63ish Ford thunderchickens had that strange horizontal sliding column for them large gut fellers. But I can't remember if those were telescopic or not.
