Hi I’m Devin I’m a 15 yr old kid outta Wisconsin and I’ve got a 79 Scottsdale k10 project. My grandpa bought it new in 79 and told me either I can have it or it’s going to the junkyard lol. Here’s the truck

here is now— well a few months ago.
Body is pretty junk, rockers are bad but the frame is actually really good, along with a running 350.

Me and my step dad are planning on doing a frame up restoration on it. Luckily we have a shop and good tools to work with. My only qualifications are I like working and I know my way around a motor enough to not screw anything up real bad, but I love this project and truck and love working on it.
So I figured I’d share my build with you guys and maybe get some tips along the way. We’re about two months in and down to frame and cab (pics will be up soon)
Tune if if you want it should be about a 4-6 month project!

After the first day of work we had the bed off, fenders off and interior was down to dash and seat. Here is another pic

After about a month & 1/2 of trying to get the motor stable enough to drive it we did a little testing on the trans/drive terrain just to get a feel of how much work it needed. Turns out that the drive terrain isn’t to bad and definitely re-usable. Recently we pulled the motor/trans and we are down to cab and axles.

Right now we are working on fixing up the cab so we can get our body panel fitment right. Then it’s on to getting the frame painted, then getting the cab ready for paint. Pics will be posted for that next!

And for the motor we have the heads and oil pan off. Probably going to get the cylinders checked out and go with new pistons n rings along with a new cam and all new top end parts.

Welcome!
Saw that first pic and was like holy ____ it’s perfect
Then scrolled down....
So that your dad in the original pic?

Good on you though. My kids are your age and their interest in doing stuff like this is nowhere near yours...
Can’t wait to see it go back together

Thanks!
I’m pretty sure that’s my uncle lol. It definitely had quite the life, my grandpa sold pigs for a long time and always transported them from the fairgrounds and back towing a big 5th wheel. After he had bought another truck i think it was just used to go from farm to farm, and it ran all the way up till 2 years ago when one morning it just didn’t want to start. Turns out it was just outta gas anyways.

and thank you I definitely love working on stuff I’ve grown up around dirt bikes and 4 wheelers so I guess that at least taught me somethin.

and also that’s a I like your square it’s a beauty! @Grit dog
