So, I got the old 10 bolt out, and as I suspected, it was a sloppy ho form my abusing it LOL.

Got the 14 bolt in, that was a real pain. But it's in there now! Rear looks higher than the front, but to the best of my knowledge, it's because the front tires are flat.
I have tubes for those, but I haven't installed them yet.
Either way, the majority of the hard stuff is OVER!!!!

It looks miniscule to the one in front of it lol. But damn im diggin it!!

So I changed up the design a little, and after work I roughed out the basical shape of the arm... Whenever I get a little time again this weekend, I will finish it.

And yeah, this. I mean, I got a lot of respect for the 4.3 Vortec, but I doubt she'll cut it in this case. Tell me you got a SBC lined up for it?


Either way, that thing is lookin badass. Can't wait to see it all said and done (with videos of it tearing **** up too hah)

I would hope he woulda already put in the sbc since now the engine bay is 6' in the air lol

Its not chatter, that's a high SFM 1" cutter running at 150 ipm just ripping steel off of a 2x5 block.

No sbc lined up, sorry guys, I have one sitting right now I could drop in. That 4.3 has sentimental value to me, me and dad built that motor. I'd take a guess to say it makes a respectable 2-250 HP n/a. Higher compression with bigger cylinders and a little different cam.

Might not be sbc power, but I'm not canning it until It quits, then I'll swap in a 5.3 or 5.7 vortec in.

Im a 6 foot 5 tall guy and the hood is just under the top of my head

Insert cutter with thru coolant or something? A feed rate of 150 is CRAZY! What kind of spindle speed you using? I mill mostly stainless steel and high nickle alloys all day long, occasionally some SA105 carbon is about the softest stuff I'll ever see in this shop (man I miss working with aluminum and brass lol). I'm the ballsy guy in the shop because I push my solid carbide endmills to like F5.0 when going full width of cut. How does that **** not explode at 150? Hah I see you're making some proper blue chips though. I must know what kind of tools you're using, that is freaking awesome.


Realistically though, 200-250hp is basically SBC power. Hell, what's a 305 make, 145hp? Hah I'm pretty sure my TBI 350 only makes 210hp so I guess it's cool. My S10s had plenty of power but they were only turning 31s, not 40s. Either way, besides the axles that's a light little truck, with proper gearing yeah I suppose you're right it should be good enough

1500 rpm, 150 ipm, that'd just CRS I'm making thr arm out of... But truth be told... I was using toolsteel speeds and feeds because that's what we mainly machine for tools A2, D2, S7...


.... CRS it can be ran much much harder. HELL! 1500/150 is the bottom of what it can be run at on toolsteel.
It's 3 flute insert cutter, no coolant. The coolant breaks down the insrdts faster, but you can run air on it just to keep the tool cool.

It even punishes 58-62 RC toolsteel no problem. It's a bad little mf.

It'll clear out a 6.5x6.5 area, 1/4" deep in soft annealed toolsteel in 8min flat.

Somewhat hard to perceive.... Or even maybe grasp... But that's lightyears beyond traditional milling with just a solid carbide 1" cutter.

It's a multiport fuel injection 4.3

4.3 gets alot of hate for many reason.... The tbi was a flat turd, and 4.3s that they put in trucks now or was putting in are ****** dogs that make 4cyl power and drink gas like a 8 cyl.

The 4.3 CMFI is generally the "cream of the crop" in these small v6's.

When it was running on 31s with the 3.42s, I could spin the tires with posi if I stomped it, and from first gear if I wound it up to 5800, it was still making power. Not a bad little motor. It killed a couple transmissions and rear ends after the rebuild.
