Did some tuning today. Disabled torque management, and set it to run on MAF only. Noticing a bit more power in the lower RPMs and a better in gear acceleration. Next up is to do some additional MAF logs then timing. I did do a timing log today, its looking like I can run more advance, so I will make adjustments to that soon.

Nice, it’s fun to do, I started messing with all kinds of settings to just see what it would do lol I stay away from the throttle settings now, I had mine go wide open twice, next you need to get your self a cam

Not cool when your ride goes wide open throttle when not commanded to. I can honestly say I have not had that happen yet, hope I don't. I have been fortunate to have a couple friends with tuning experience to run thoughts and ideas buy. Goat Rope Garage videos have been great as well. The MAF runs I did yesterday really made a difference, more power and better throttle response. The timing runs I have done so far have shown a little retard, yet the advance seems to fall way short of the high octane table. Still lots of work to do. Yes, I should have installed a cam when the engine was out and on a stand,

I put some timing in off the start it seem to help out on the take offs since with the manual it’s not much of a load, that’s nice you got some friends to help out, I like goat rope garage that guy has helped me out a lot, there is another guy got some good info it’s low buck Ls I think he’s kinda slow but explains everything he does

I just bought another Ls motor to put in my 72 camaro, I might get crazy on this motor and do some more work to it, a stroker kit would be sweet

I just did a couple runs recording advance and retard. First run I set burst knock retard above 158 to zero. Started seeing knock/pulled timing from 2400 to 4000, approximately 0.1 to 2.0. Second run with the burst knock retard back to original settings showed no knock/pulled timing. Staying with factory timing for now. It is interesting that the recorded advance during second run matched the low octane table almost exactly but was 2 to 3 degrees below the high octane table.

Yeah it’s weird trying to do timing, my timing seems to never match any of the tables, must be all the other adders, on my 02 Silverado timing seems to always be below low octane and I always run the highest grade I can get and I seem to get knock in around 2000 to 2400, so I thought about adding to the power enrichment a little to see if it helps, in my 82 I put like 3 degrees on it all and the only time I get knock is if I keep it in 4th and bog the motor

Oil change turned into replacing left rear wheel cylinder. Was beginning to wonder why brakes started feeling soft again.

I am using a Sanden compressor with an ICT billet bracket p/n 551494x-3. But I am running a 5.3. If I remember correctly you running a 350. I know there are a lot of after market brackets for Sanden compressors, not to sure about the R4.

going with same bracket. Those custom hoses? How much were they?

If I remember correctly, it was around $900 for a reputable AC place to build hoses and complete the install.

Last couple mornings I have noticed the rear brakes being grabby for the first couple times of hitting the brakes. Once down the road a ways they were fine. Had some time after church today to pull the rear tires and drums for inspection. Other than seeing some rust in the drums every thing looked fine. So I ruffed the pads and drums with sand paper and gave the them a good adjusting. Best part of it all was watching my teenage boys wrestle the 35s back on the truck. BTW the road test went well. Still weird having one the boys drive during a road test.

Mid to late 90's fored pickups had that problem. Dampness combined with the dust and crud in the rear drums caused some grabbing and pull. They ended up replacing the brake shoes, had to do with the composition in the lining.

May just be a shoe soaking up moisture and swelling? My 87 celebrity used to do that on the pass side rear wheel when it was wet out. Hit the brakes and that wheel would lock and squeal the tire. Idk why...

Makes sense. It’s been raining a lot here lately.

It was fun at a red light id let it creep forward and just keep barely pumping the pedal and the ass end would bob up n down like a low rider. Id see people in the mirror pointin and laughin.
