Just for giggles I called them back and asked them how much I could buy it back for. They said it's already been 100% salvaged lol.

No stereo equip in the 01, I'm letting it go. Dont even want the trouble. They used NADA, and said the base value of the truck was $10,500. Hell blue book value was $9,900 so i figured I'd get maybe 7. They gave me 500 for the low miles, 100 for wheels, -50 for he tear in the seat, etc. Came out to $11,501. After they took the $500 deductible out.

I'm Buying the 06 chevy posted above. Probably putting 8k down. As soon as I get I the trans is coming out and getting built with my parts...cam and bolt one will follow.

Good Decision :waytogo: Sometimes those deals turn into alot more work and in the end you really didn't gain much. Nothing like having new adds anyway, that you know for a fact aren't hidden damaged in the accident and a new warranty.

Well you asked for advice, Here it is.

PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU DRIVE!

Did I mention I am the base safety officer? Sorry its just in my nature to point out the obvios, its part of the job.

Holy cow brother, that could have ended much worse. Glad insurance is working with you, But from your current track record I would hate to pay your insurance premiums.

Lol I doubt it happens soon. Can't find a Crewcab in black with the right options for the right price. My 85 is running so good and with the tint and ac, it's like a new truck. I'm kinda focusing on this 65 right now

WELL IF YOU PUT IN A CLAIM..TO GET PAID.MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERY DIME YOU CAN.BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A CLAIMS RECORD.NEGITIVE ONE.AND IF YOU EVER CHANGE INSURANCE COMPANIES.YOU MAY PAY FOR THAT CLAIM RECORD.WHEN THEY CHECK FOR A CLAIMS RECORD..SO YOU HAD BETTER STAY WHERE YOU ARE AT FOR EVER

WHAT I WOULD DO IS GO TO autotrader.com and see what trucks like your in great shape are selling for.so if they..try and short change you..you have some.proof.of what your vehicle is selling for..

if they give you some grief.just say hey man..the trucks are on that web site.just replace the truck..with a nice one off of the site in the color you want.have some picked out.

let them know.you know what the truck is worth and what they are selling for..you were in the right vehicle.to do that fast and heavy hit.from the rear.i am just going to say..been there and done that ..80 mph..in a heavy framed car.totaled car.me not a scratch..

if you had of done that in a front wheel drive car.or some unibody car.you would not be here today.or be in a shape.you wish you were not in..you would of been broken up-from head to toe..

years back.i seen a guy.hit the back of a truck.it was stopped..him.65-70 mph-in a new honda car-..was not much left of him.cut his head off-i have photos-took photos after the body was removed...hey..lessons learned..you lived..too drive another day..

He already got paid for the truck, and I think he got paid fair for it. He's happy with it too.

But, you're right, he goes to change companies know, he'll pay thru the roof. That doesn't matter if its your fault or not, a claim is a claim period. But, I don't think it'll affect him near as bad after 3 years, and almost not at all after 5 years.
