My '79 K15 had a 350 and came stock with an HEI. Gap should be .045.

I don't think you're like that, or you wouldn't have taken the time to give a helpful response.

These other jokers can kiss my ass.

You seem to ask a lot of remedial level questions for someone with such vast knowledge.

I never said I had vast knowledge. Are you slow or something?

Seeing as we are on a forum, that's what would apply here...

If I called you a white trash piece of **** to your face, and I saw it bothered you, I'd repeatedly keep doing it, until you swung a fist at me, which in turn would also be exciting for me.

Here over the internet, you're gonna receive a hefty flaming for asking alot of questions over and over.

Again, I'm not trying to ****** with you, but it's just that "unspoken rule" lol

Or if you and I were friends personally, I'd just push buttons just to get a rise.

Coming from a machine shop background, and a father that's a machinist, the statement is

"if they **** with you, they like you, if they don't, they don't like you"

Be a good sport. Play along with the **** talking

You seriously have never noticed the difference between a points/condenser distributor, and an HEI distributor?
Now I’m not sure, but I think he wasn’t even thinking aboot points. He was asking if it was the bulky HEI or the style with a remotely mounted coil somewhere...
but if he WAS wondering points VS HEI then I too am surprised... but it being an 80 I can’t believe anyone would think points were in there. I don’t think I have even seen points in ole 60s cars anymore. Pretty much anyone who has ever changed the spark plugs swap the dizzy over now

Lol, oh, we know you don't have vast knowledge, I think we've all seen the "how do I get a steering stabilizer off?" thread. And you wanna call me slow?

Quit being a dick. My '69 has HEI. I wasn't sure on the 1980.

Your 69 would've came originally with a points style distributor, and the 80 model came with HEI.
The diameter on the top of a points style cap is around 3 3/4" with a coil wire in the center, and an HEI is around 4 3/4", with no coil wire in the center.

Asking questions, and making sure I'm getting something right so I don't cause damage doesn't make me slow. Intelligent people ask questions and aren't afraid to learn. Insecure idiots do the opposite of that, or try to belittle those that are asking questions.

Get a life and move on from my thread. You have offered no help at all, and instead have stunk it up.

My '69 was upgraded to an aftermarket HEI at some point.

From those that were helpful on this thread, and from some additional research, I have determined my 1980 has a factory HEI.
