I like my Flowmaster 40's. Sound pretty good, but a little towards the louder side.

I had side exit a long while back, but it was behind the wheels. Then i changed it to dump right before the rear axle. No pipe, tip or nothing behind the mufflers. It was quite droney, anything over 35 you couldn't have a conversation and idling at a light you'd get exhaust fumes through the back window.

Took a long while before I added some 12 in exhaust tips. Now it dumped right over the axle and sounded much better. The drone and exhaust fumes were gone, couldnt hear the exhaust in the truck much unless you got on it. Made it much more enjoyable to drive.
Mine has 2- super 44 flowmasters in 3" then about 4ft of pipe that dumps right before the rear. The pipes are straight back with each having a 90°elbow that is at a 45°angle in relation to the box and the ground. Ive been toying the idea of turning the 90s up and goin straight out each side and adding chrome tips... not sure yet. But i do love the flow masters. Yes they are droney a bit but sound good at a certain rpm range.

Well you guys were right, even Honkey which is a shock. That is if he didn’t get himself into trouble and kicked out. Anyway still lovin’ the Dynomax race bullets. It’s also getting louder. Still thinking about a Carven R or TR. How about the new guys, have anything to share?

Another vote for Flowmaster. Have them on my 71 Chevelle PT GMachine etc. I tried Magnaflows on my K20 they weren't overly loud, but had a terrible drone and I just didn't like the sound. K20 stock manifolds 2.5" pipe X behind the tcase tail pipes behind rear wheels, more or less in stock exit location.

Just picked up a new engine for my k5 ,(still on the garage floor), and I was thinking I need it a bit quieter . I have had tons of flow masters ,(40's) on my trucks and I do like the way they sound and I have the 50 series on my superbee right now and they sound ok as well. But now I am kind of over the flow master sound that most people have around here.

Anyway , my k5 has header's , 2 1/2 inch pipe and moroso spiral flows and it sounds mean and loud but I am kind of over it. I have never ran magnaflows but I am thinking about it. I was thinking that I miss the old blue streak glass pack sound , (semi loud and mean), (30 + inch long) , but they don't make packs like that anymore ,(no other glasspacks have that core design).

So I was thinking that I might try the round can magnaflows , not the oval ones. They have a 6 inch case and come in 18 inch long and 27 inches long and I would think that they would sound different , (more like an old glasspack) ,than the oval with a bend inside.

Anybody tried that style of magnaflows ?

My opinion for you guy's about the moroso's , they sound mean as hell even on a stock engine, (if you are looking for that) , better than a 40 series flowmaster and as far as horse power gain or loss , (it's always a huge debate about muffler's online) you wont really feel it on a stock or a mildly modified engine anyway.

I haven't run the round ones, but before you buy a pair, check Jones exhaust. They sell direct copies of the Magnaflow mufflers for about half the cost. They look, sound and feel exactly the same. They may offer a round version too.

I think my favorite muffler is still the Hooker Aerochamber. Kinda sounds Flowmaster-ish, but it's more of a growl than a rumble.

The only thing I have to say is Magnaflow spends a boatload on advertising. Its RARE to see a Flowmaster commercial. With all of the the installs that the Magnaflow guy ( Richard-I think is his name) does on all of these TV shows Magnaflow should own this market.

Personally I have Flowmasters on my Chevelle and on the truck its some no brand name Turbo mufflers.
