Wiper Issue

Ok, I've been reading through old threads for the last hour and found one mention from a guy who was having the same problem as I am having, but there was no fix for it. truck is an 86 gmc k1500 and when I turn the stick to kick on the wipers they work fine. When I return the knob to the off position, the wipers keep going. In order for me to get them to stop, I have to turn the knob back past the stop position (what I would call the momentary position). What say you Squarebody Guru's?

I'm guessing that the truck equipped with intermittent wipers? If so, I would try a new pulse module. Rotating the knob backwards to the MIST position runs the motor the same as rotating it forward to the LO position - except that it is a momentary connection and will spring back to OFF when released.

When you use the MIST function to get the wipers to stop, do you drive them down to the parked position and then release the knob at just the right time? Or do they go to park and stop if you release the knob at any point in the sweep?

Yep it does have intermittent wipers. I replaced the "stalk" before I ever did any kind of looking into the issue. I have to drive them down to the spot I want them in and then let off and they will stop wherever I let off the mist function.

I was able to find a youtube video where a guy had this issue on a blazer, turns out he just had a chitty connection on one of the connectors at the wiper mower, I assume the connection for the park stuff. gonna check it out tomorrow if I get time when I wake up. Working night shift right now so I'm all screwed up. I'll let ya know.

Bad solder joint. Wiggling the connector temporarily “fixes” the connection.
