Very nice list.

To add, the D70HD came in 20 & 30 series pick up duallies. A cab & chassis dually could have either a D70HD or 14 bolt depending on the configuration ordered.

Also a K30 w/ a front D60 was not available until 77.

D70HD as in Dana 70??? I was not aware that was available in Squares. Doesn't suprise me about C&C though.

So was it the Dana 44 in K30 for the 73-76. I'll update that info.

Very good job Hotrod, thanks. So my burban has 10 bolts front and rear, so it is a POS, right?

I wouldn't call it a POS. Its effective for many people. Many will say the D44 is stronger, but some also say the D44 is stronger in 1 area and the 10bolt is stronger in another, so they consider them about equal. Becasue everyone has the misconception that 10bolts are POS, they can be had for cheap. So, I don't mind running a 10bolt, and if I do break it, someone is probably throwing one away that works fine since they "upgraded" to a D44, and I'll take that throw away axle and run it. Of course D60 is the way to go if you have $800-$1000 to buy a used one. I can pick up 8 10 bolts and D44's for that price, so I don't see myself running a D60 unless I find one for $300 or so.

So let's say my 10 bolt eventually needs replaced. What can I put in it's place and will it match the truck and lug pattern?

It's lasted over twenty years (and still going) so a 10 bolt suits your needs. As mentioned, they are readily available and inexpensive. Drop in the same thing and it will outlast the rest of your rig.

Yes, the D70HD is the standard axle for the rear of pick up duallies. It is in the D70 familiy but the HD version has larger 4" axle tubes and much larger carrier and inner pinion bearings.

Also yes, any pre 77 K30 will have a D44.

73-91 K10 K5 Dana 44 or 10 bolt will bolt right in. Even if its an 8 lug, your 6 lug will interchange and do the swap. So buy whatever you can get cheap that has your gear ratio in it. Very Easy. This is why I can't see spending ass loads on a Dana 60 when the D44 and 10bolts are so plentiful and cheap. You can afford to get rough and break one occasionally. So what !!! You want to be a wuss and baby it, whch since its your DD I can see taking it easy, but my point is, I am not going to let a 10bolt hold me back from having some fun. The more **** you tear up, the more fun you're having. Repairing them is all part of the fun too. If you can't accept tearing **** up, then you need to get you an Xbox of PS3 and sit in front the TV on the couch and get to be a fat sumbish.

I'm pretty happy with my 12 bolt but wish they had 3:73 or 4:10 gears in them....

Anyone interested and close, I have a 10 bolt 3.08 Peg legger for $100, and a 12 Bolt 3.08 likely a peg legger, don't know for sure yet for $125. Drum to Drum on both, and all E brake cables are there. When I pull stuff, I don't butcher it like some people do.
