I should add that im looking for more of the muscle cars sound than redneck truck. So tubbing size and tip size of what you guys think.

i have a similar question along the same lines. in yalls experience how good would straight thru mufflers sound? I want maximum flow but want a good sound. would it give a considerably deeper sound compared with straight exhaust? the example im lookin at is this

Ohhhh, noooooo.....flowmasters a very last resort. Straight through is the ticket, magnaflow, borla, dyno max ultra flow, gibson, cherry bomb, smithy's....the choices are plentiful!
Anything larger than dual 2 1/4, and its just noise. 3" for single exhaust. the lenght of the muffler generally determins the volume, as well as tip size, and length. Tips act like a megaphone.

Ight well i've had my eyes on the dyno max's so prolli go with two of thos and 2 1/4 duals and straight back into 3" x 8" tips and keep them high and tight???? so wat about headers? Its deff. not a show truck.

I've run most of the headers that are available, they are all pretty comparable. They all have there pros and cons too. Are you having exhaust made or do you want to install a kit?

im going to have it made, i have a buddy that own's his own muffler/repair shop but he is rly big into exhaust so ill have him do it. anything wrong with the $100 headers? i think i saw a pair on summit? but im going to run 2 of the dynomax ultraflow straight throughs part# 17218 so thos are 2 1/2" in and out so ill just do that for tubing then straight back.

The Flowtechs are the cheapest I would buy. They are also easy to install and the collectors don't hang too low. The collectors have standard flanges but that's OK since you are having exhaust made for the truck, just buy some good aluminum gaskets so they don't blow out.

I think if you can have your buddy mount a ball and flare type connector to the collectors, that would be one of the big header complaints that you would not have to EVER deal with.And dont go with shorty headers, the best bang for your buck comes from long tubes.

I've had a couple sets with ball flanges and they aren't all they are cracked up to be. There's 3 disadvantages with them. The bolts ALWAYS ALWAYS loosen up and fall out unless you double-nut them (looks hokey), the reducers tend to rust out quicker (for two reasons I can explain if anyone cares), and they also take up a bit more space compared to a standard 3-bolt connection.

He's always like that about loud vehicles, it comes with age There's a guy in our neighborhood with a very loud Harley. I don't mind loud bikes but this one is obnoxiously loud, and he rides it wide-open with some poor dumb bitch on the back. I hate that guy. I compare my experience with this guy to whatever Jim has a negative slant against loud vehicles. It's nice to appreciate a good sounding vehicle but terribly loud just makes someone want to throw a cement block through your windshield when no one's watching.
