Is this a bullet hole?!?

Hello, after removing both the aftermarket carpet and the original vinyl/rubber flooring I discovered this hole. Actually two holes, one in the flooring and one in the firewall. They match up perfectly and they appear to have been punched through, inside to outside. Very weird.

Could anybody think of any aftermarket accessories that would require this. Or could it be an unfortunate case of drinking while deer hunting?

Passenger side up near heating vent. That is the transfer case cover on the left side of the photo. For size, think silver dollar.
