84 K1500 Turn Signal Cam

Hey guys, brand new here, so I'm not sure if this is the correct thread for this. I've got an 84 k1500 that I've had issues with the turn signal lever since I got the truck 3 1/2 years ago. Left turn cams and holds fine, but turning right, you really had to push it pretty hard to engage the cam to the right. The lever is hitting the shroud like something is loose in the column. Just kind of dealt with it until it broke the lever and the cam eventually, so I replaced both, and that made it even harder to cam to the right. Not sure what to check at this point, but it keeps bending and breaking levers so I'd like to figure it out as the levers are 40-50 bucks a piece.

By "cam", do you mean the turn signal switch? The cancel cam is the collar on the steering shaft that has a couple bumps on it that interact with a couple springs on the signal switch, to cancel the turn signals after going through a turn.

The turn signal switch needs some grease on it at the contact points, to operate smoothly. Just as important, the little steel lever that connects the turn signal stalk to the turn signal switch needs to have grease on the end of it to operate smoothly as well.

Yeah the turn signal cam. The cam engages when going to the left, and holds like normal, but it's really hard to engage to the right. Also, it does not cancel after a turn, you have to manually turn the lever back to the neutral position.

The areas that I highlighted in red are where there needs to be lube. Also notice the one over on the left. The areas I highlighted in blue are the springs that contact the cancel cam, to cancel the turn signals.

Hey bucket, thanks for the advice. Sorry it took me so long to get back on this, but I pulled it back apart and greased everything and operation is much smoother now. I felt comfortable enough to get a new lever that should be in today, so hopefully it'll work well enough to not bend it in a month lol.
