grr
i thought u were building an engine, what ever happened to that plan?
Still waiting for the machine shop. And since I have to wait for the final word on what the bore will be (I’m hoping for .040 over but could be .060 over) I can’t buy the bottom end kit. So I’m just keeping busy until then.

Buddy of mine named Gary Camaro turned me on to Simple Green. He used it for cleaning automotive interiors and damned near everything else.
A long time ago I built steel buildings and some aluminum construction.
That guy - named Cracker Dave - proved to me that WINDEX was all that was really necessary to clean everything else. Hope it helps!

Apparently the Sprayaway Window Cleaner works good too as a was and grease remover due to the alcohol content.

The new Dawn power wash works amazing and I'm not a tree hugger but it's also environment friendly
I just found a recipe for a gallon of Power Wash. 8oz isopropyl alcohol, 16oz dawn dish soap, 104oz water. After my premade supply runs out, I’m going to try it.

You're not painting the whole engine bay black, right? Just the frame rails/maybe the inner fenders? I hate when guys just rattle can everything black on a not black truck
That makes two of us.

That’s part of the reason I really appreciate stock styled builds, with the appropriate usage of body color and low gloss black. One of my favorite things on a Mopar is a nicely detailed and body color painted engine compartment.

I REALLY hate it when they literally just paint everything black, master/reservoir/hardware/AC stuff, even the dryer....and then put chrome VCs and air cleaner on it lol

Just black on everything that’s supposed to be black. Frame and inner fenders.

The wiper motor is full of surface rust and so is the brake booster. So it may be the better part of valor to just paint them. I’m trying to keep the metal lines (brake, fuel, trans lines) bare metal.

More scraping and brushing. So far, the evidence is that the Power Wash isn’t as effective as simple green. But not far off. I rediscovered a can of CRC water based engine Pro degreaser. I sprayed that on and let it soak last night. It instantly turned brown, so that may win the competition. Brake Clean will likely be what gets me across the finish line but I have to make sure the wife isn’t home- it really bothers her lungs.
