Always room for more. I hold no patent on it:cool:
It would be cool, but my eyes are bad enough as it is without a foot of blower sticking up, lol.

How is it driving that thing? I guess you just learn to look around it. I ain’t got the bank account for something like that anyhow. And I wouldn’t want to cut a hole in my immaculate custom Krylon blue rattle-can hood. That thing’s worth at least 5 bucks.

Walked into the machine shop today with donuts for the guy, and asked if I could help remove the old paint from my engine block. I had brought my own drill and wire brushes. He handed me his air tools and told me to get to work.

It's only 3 1/2" above the hood in the rear. 10 1/2" above in the front. No prob...grab a Chilton & place in seat. Should make up the difference:p
And if you was to ask Tina, at the time we didn't have the funds to throw on the truck either. It's just something I always wanted in my early years, so she helped make sure it became a reality. Maybe somewhere down the road, you too can do the same.
Could go procharger...no cutting the hoodie then. Your money. I'm just trying to help you spend it.:33:

Got the last of the brushing that I’m gonna do. The rest of it will be taken care of with the last bath after the bore.

Took some time to clean up the RPM manifold this afternoon. It looked good from afar but in only a few years it had deteriorated. I scrubbed it down with some Dawn and, rinsed it and applied some WD40 liberally. Looks like there’s some spots of oxidation- I tried scrubbing it but just made the metal shiny rather than bring back the cast look. Even though they market them as plain cast aluminum, I suspect they paint them. It’ll just get dirty again, so I just wanted to bring ‘er around a little. “Good enough for the girls we date”.

The bottom end is slated to arrive Monday afternoon which probably means Tuesday. I’ll drop it off Wednesday and hopefully they can measure the exact stroke so the deck can be set to the quench I want.

You could always get some of that aluminum look spray paint, I think one of them is called Alumicast? I've used some on brackets before and they stay looking good longer. I supposed you could even clear coat it? Though that might yellow over time

I used Seymour Alumi-blast on my 904 transmission case.

Got a call yesterday from the helper at the shop that does all the boring and decking. He asked me what I wanted for piston-to-deck, and we both settled on .005 in the hole. The Cometic gaskets recommended by Brodix come in both .036 and .040, so when the decking is done and the final measurement taken, I can chose the gasket. I don’t see much difference in between a .040 and .045 quench. (Edit- either would be 10.27:1 or 10.33:1 by just about any calculator- I checked many.)

Trying to figure out the cross reference between gasket numbers for .060 was its own long drawn-out task. Brodix didn’t even know, they only list for .030 over in Cometic, so after calling Cometic themselves this morning, we settled on the C5400. Normally I like digging into that stuff, but it wasn’t fun since no one seemed to know anything and I was on borrowed time since the machinist was waiting on me. We got it sorted tho. He said he should at least have that squared away in a couple weeks, then it will be on to the block clearancing for the crank/rod caps. So, progress is being made.
