So yesterday I finally got the 502 I had off to a good home. A proper home.

Some guy with a 60s square chevelle hit me up last week asking if I wanted to trade him. He had a freshly built blown 5.3 with a whole chit ton of accessories for trade. He told me he didnt like how dinky it looked in his engine bay, which I can respect that in a classic. An LS under the hood of a classic is pretty .... yuck (sorry not sorry)

So he apparently got this motor with an s10 and it had a T56 behind it. Its all managed by a terminator X, and had liquid intercoolers, pumps, coolant reservoir, fuel cell, massive fuel pumps, wiring harnesses... EVERYTHING. I didnt expect all this stuff.

So I loaded the big block up yesterday morning and me and my buddy drove down to SC and delivered it.

We inspected the LS... pulled valve covers to check out the alleged 1218s and chromoly pushrods, all checked out. I bore scoped pistons and they were still shiny in the holes, they were the advertised coated, forged 1200hp pistons. We pulled the oil pan and the rods were in fact H beam rods also good for 1200hp.

706 heads which i thought to be sortof lame for a supercharged build but at the same time I dont really care. Its a new motor.

M122 blower on top, which I believe is from a cobra. 80lb injectors, it did have the correct non projected boost plugs, and the pan even had the break in goop in it still. Which he said he did run it a few times but that was it.

Its managed by a holley terminator X... its alot. 102mm throttle body lol

Ill attach all the pics i took

I dont think i declared my plans;

I want to find an engineless or beat up, ugly 99-06 work truck

Single cab short bed or long bed.

Put a triple disc converter 80e behind it with a HD2 kit, and make the most unsuspecting sleeper - burnout mobile ever.

According to those videos, a lower compression, smaller cam 4.8 made almost 600 horse, 600 ft lb on e85, 11-12psi. Stock 4.8 is 9.4:1 c/r

This 5.3 is about 10.7:1 with a larger BTR cam. So it ought to make every bit of over 600hp on the same boost. Probably 650 hp

Just plugged those rough specs into a calculator.

You are running 12 PSI of boost at an altitude of 1000 feet. Your motor's static compression is 10.7 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 19.23 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 19.43 :1

Unless you drop about 7.5 points of compression thru e85, intercooling, cam overlap, and possibly some form of injection This will not end well.

Yea thats what everyone says , then idiots accidentally toss a LS together and cram 28 psi into it and it never shrugs

I used to think if you boosted anything over 9:1 it was a big no no too lol

When I ran a track only car, I ran a blown 11:1 BBC on alcohol It's not that you can't run high compression and boost it's that you need to make other considerations like cam intercooler fuel etc. so was just saying only tossing E85 at it with 12 psi of boost and a small air intercooler is not going to be enough to keep it alive.

Thankfully this one's got a BTR turbo cam with a healthy air to water intercooler with twin intercooler pumps and a reservoir as stated in my first couple of posts

Edit: when this build idea gets off the ground I will have a flex fuel sensor integrated in the system and run like, 11.5 afr and teens in spark on pump gas, and when on e85, 20s in spark and 12.5-13 afr would be just fine.

The "work around" that guys do in order to run high compression and boost is to run gassy, inefficient AFRs to keep cylinder temps down if the gas isnt quality.

Ive done it myself in my own boosted projects and for customers ive done tuning for. Not saying its ideal, and again definitely not efficient.

But the key words air-fuel ratio is the determining factor in atomizing pistons or not , regardless of compression ratio, im sure you know this running 11:1 on this big block youre speaking of with alcohol

Intake temps is another variable. E85 will withstand up to about 180° intake temps continuously before it gets really upset.
That blower with air to water intercooler should be operating at 11-12psi @ 120-130° intake temps at peak boost.

E85 laughs at that temprature in knock resistance. Pump gas gets upset after 100° IAT

And if it blows.....

Nobody's going to cry. I could care less. 5.3 motors are a dime a dozen. Thats the major take away
