Does anyone here have an easy way of looking up the applications for older Kent Moore tools? 70's through mid 90's mostly.

Basic google searches on the J-numbers I've looked up so far haven't done much good. It's mostly just ebay listings where the seller doesn't know the application either.

Not comprehensive by any means, but there are a few old catalogs on Archive.org

Kent Moore archive.
and some more here.

Boy, that'll give me a headache lol. I couldn't figure out a good way to search within and at least the '76 catalog I looked at, there was no table of contents with a list of part #'s and a corresponding page#.

I did find one of them on accident though.

I feel like the large majority of this stuff is going to be nearly impossible to identify. I did find one more of the fixtures though in the '70 book, after searching different key words. Couldn't find the application for the brackets that are bolted to it though, lol.

I've got about 500 lbs worth of Kent Moore tools. I started the process of trying to identify what they are used for. So far, I've only found the application for I think of the 4 of the 10 that I've tried to look up. Still got a long way to go.

I have a couple of catalogs from the '80s that I'll try to look up for you. But it will have to wait until I'm back at the shop, which may be a while.

Maybe list the part numbers that you're looking for so anybody who has info can share it.

I don't know where to start. There's A LOT and I wouldn't want to task anyone with that.

I'll continue going through stuff though and see what I find. I'll probably try to separate out all the stuff that I'm most curious about and go from there.

Right now it's just the two brackets on the diff carrier fixture (the '70 catalog calls it a transmission fixture though) and some other type of fixture.

Are these the specialty tools you see listed in the shop manuals?

Yes. Whenever it says to use J-tool #xxxxx for whatever operation in the manual, these are the ones.

And you have 500 pounds of them to sort through? It's a blessing and a curse...lol...

Yes, around in there somewhere. Could be more, could be less. I even left a bunch of stuff behind. I'll go more with "curse". I couldn't just grab the big stuff and be satisfied... I had to take as much as I could, not only because I paid for it, but because I would have always wondered what I left behind.
