Piece of all thread clamped in a vice,a coupling nut on it and a combination wrench on the coupling nut.use the combination wrench to pull on a fish scale while you twist the coupling nut with your torque wrench. Kinda complicated but low tech and you probably have everything laying .around.

That first video is the way I did it. I was not sure how accurate the results were due to the "click" part upon reaching max torque. No matter how smoothly I pulled on the torque wrench to sneak up on the final torque, the digital scale would would spaz out slightly when the wrench clicked.

That's why I figured it's within a couple pounds, because I couldn’t get a real accurate reading right at the end. Lower torque levels were much closer, but I tested it all the way up to 100 lbs.

More shop infrastructure than a tool, but picked up this pallet racking last night. 36x120" uprights, 8ft beams. 3 uprights and 12 beams. 10 metal grate decking panels. This style will accept 2x material as decking as well. Got 3 12ft 2x10s thrown into the deal as well.

My plan is to replace the blue shelving for the first 16ft, and have these setup in a manner I can walk underneath them and "regain" that floor space under the racking.

12 foot doesn't look like much on the ground, when turned up right, it suddenly gets much taller feeling.

I was told that these came out of a brake factory in Saint Louis. Although the seller could not remember the name of who. My guesses are either Wagner, Moog, or Federal Mogul.

One thing that is nice is these were only 2 miles from the shop.

True story. I had a buddy doing his own roof shingle replacement with a couple of us beer buddies chipping in. It was a 2 story house. I got to borrow some of those racks from work and we made scaffolds out of them, covered the whole front of the house. We had the pallets designed to lock into place. One of my prouder MacGuyver moments.

I wonder where a guy could check calibration? I’m not sure if I have a place like that nearby.

My dad worked with a guy that was in the Air Guard who had access to the equipment for calibration. Every year or two he would take Dad’s wrench and calibrate it.

Dad has been retired for some time now and decided to mail his Snap-On torque wrench in for calibration. They returned it saying they can’t calibrate it because it’s too old and needs parts. No offer for replacement or even a discount on a new wrench

Had it for a bit but it sharpens your lawn tools great. Sharpened lobbers and they got good and sharp.

Ordered up a machinist’s straight edge and a TDC stop. That way I can make sure the deck is true, and I can measure how far in the hole the pistons are before I order up the head gaskets. At the same time I can see where true TDC is and see how close the harmonic balancer is, as well as check valve clearance to pistons.

I did good though! I only grabbed a couple things. I bought this cool little tool chest, I've been wanting to put together a small kit to keep in the daily and I think this'll fit the bill for at least half of it. It was $10, I couldn't say no

I will be going back periodically for more tools lol. If it weren't so close to Xmas (and the spending that goes with that), I would've bought more. I also grabbed these two pair of pliers. The smaller was made in Germany, the larger is a USA made Craftsman set. Grabbed the Craftsman cuz I liked how tight the jaws fit together

I am in the material handling business and we sell fork lifts and all types of racking. Once I get my shop together, I am going to use similar racking but have metal bent to make the first level the work bench with a back splash and bolt the vice the metal top. Put a cross bar just above the floor and make sliding doors that would go up to the cross bar for the work bench to keep things out of sight. Then the area above the work bench will get LED lights and an outlet. Above that I would store pallets of stuff. We had that set up in the one shop I worked at and it was slick and not that expensive. More heavy duty than any one you could buy reasonably.

I am trying to assemble a functioning automotive garage that we could work on anything. All this stuff new is expensive, I have been buying at surplus auctions. They don't give it away but cheaper than buying it new.

First up is post jacks for under car work on a rack

Second is a pair of Hein Warner jacks, one is good, the other leaks with a bad wheel. I bought the lot for the transmission jack, that is a OTC one. I have a Harbor Frieght one, the front wheels don't steer, these are 10 times easier to use.

Here is a under car OTC trans jack, paid way too much for it and needs a seal kit but it is what it is.

Now this put a dent in the budget, it's a hot water, pressure washing cabinet. Basically you put a block or trans case in there all greasy, turn it on for a hour and it comes out clean
