Made it, 123 miles, the last 30 miles at 78-80 to see how it would act. 200 temp gauge 40 psi 3500 rpm like it was made to do it

Those 283's don't even blink at rpms over 3000.

9.5 mpgs means you burned about 1/2 tank. Not too bad for the first shake down and turning 3000 and higher. Don't expect that with the 350, it'll suck more fuel for sure.

Don’t know, but it got me on the road. Getting harder to find anything around here for anything older
Same here. Before the mom & pop store closed that had an account with, I was more and more ordering from rock auto, or at least getting part numbers from rock auto to see if they could get it. All the Napa's closed up here. Sad.

Another 90 miles today. Man, this 3 on the tree has to GO. GREAT for tooling around the farm or old town square, horrible for trying to not get run over by modern cars. This thing is going on the chopping block next summer

A lot of people sleep on them because they got a bad rep but I have a S10 NV3500 in mine an its been great for 8 yrs now. The S10 version is closer ratio an uses the 350/4l60 size yoke. One of the better things I've done to it...

One option I recently became aware of (thanks to the Express van guy on GMT400.com) is the AR5 swap as a good candidate. The Colorado AR5 trans seems to be much easier to find than an NV3500. It can be used with a 4L60 bellhousing and and adapter plate.

I’m not sure what I’ll use, I’m open to all ideas. I’ve got my biggest job yet coming up in spring so I’ll have some jack to play with
