I'm rebuilding my 12 bolt and I just put the new bearing on the pinion gear. I put the pinion in the freezer for about an hour, then put the bearing on a hot plate for just a few minutes. It heated up very quick and started smoking (burning off residue oil I guess), I turned off the heat but the rollers turned a light blue/purple. I went ahead and put the bearing on which fell right on but my question is: Does the blue affect the integrity of the bearing? I probably shouldn't have heated it up in the first place. I do have a press but wanted to try this method for some reason. Here's a pic: Thanks,
