5 lug to 6 lug 1983 GMC

Im looking to upgrade to 6 lugs from 5 lugs has anyone done this on a 1983 GMC truck i dont wont to go the adapter sloution looking to change the hub or upgrade the spindle looking for a solution please this is been a headache.

Thank you Im just annoyed with buying kits with no luck just happened to find this site in my long hours of searching and hitting Dead ends. Im rebuilding my 1983 GMC i've had since High School first car and all and I want to bring back its glory days miss driving it.

I was being sarcastic,you didn't even say hi. I'm going to post a link I think its post 9 and 10 tells everything you need to lift and go 6 lug on a c10. Ignore the lift parts like blocks,springs and raised spindles if you are wanting to stay stock height.

Seems like a whole lotta want to drive it competing with no stated and very little plausible reason to change to 6 lugs.
The reason there is very little info on this is because very few people do it because there’s very little reason to. Unlike the plethora of other supported modifications for 2wd squares.
It’s like the old adage, if you constantly think everyone else around you is always wrong, it’s probably you.
So why do you want to convert to 6 lugs?
Maybe we can save you frustration and you can get your truck on the road without getting overly emotional.

Most people switch from 6 lug to 5 lug.

This is the first time I've ever heard of going the other way.

He wants less wheel options, I guess. I can't think why you would want to do this outside of doing a full suspension upgrade to make it a 3/4 or 1 ton.

You're NOT gonna make it a 3/4 ton or a one ton with 6 hole wheels......gotta go 8 or leave it alone

I did it to my truck because the rear blew and the only one i could find was 6 lug and i already had many wheel sets from my gmt400 so i didnt care. So at this current state it sits with 6 lug 265/75/16s in the back and 5 lug 31x10.5x15s up front cus i never got to change the front.

Figurin maybe that’s what/why the OP wants to swap. Founda 6lug rear to replace a shelled out 5 lugger. Or maybe some other idea but he no say, just a generic request.
And your post is the reason he should stay 5 lug……

In my defense i never changed the front because i stopped driving it and hasnt seen the road in years. Also i think i was told the 67' to 72' 6 lug 2wd conversion rotors fit squares.

Was just saying in general I don't see the point of swapping away from 5 lug outside of swapping everything to upgrade the load capacity. Only doing a 6 lug conversion isn't doing anything besides giving yourself less wheel and aftermarket brake options.
