3.73s in a manual- that would explain why my dad said his neighbor growing up’s 79 Z-28 4 speed felt really quick.

Although, my grandparents at the time had a 1978 Caprice classic, 305 2 barrel and a 1980 Toyota SR5 pickup, so it might not have taken much for something to feel like a rocket.

Funny story.. a guy i worked with raved about his friends 81 TT/A that he had back in the day. He was literally insulted when i broke the news that it was probably the lamest trans am ever, even with the turbo. He was driving a Citation at the time. I told him it's all relative..

Yup, I had a 80 Turbo T/A 301, what a pooch, out it came and SBC 350 in its place, woke that beech up.

It's a 3500 stall supposedly. Let me look up the specs and get back to you on the cam. Real mild and nowhere near enough for that converter to be pleasant I'm sure.

It's been kind of a boring few days. Just working on maintenance items like brakes, etc. Found something interesting today however when working on the back. Found this on both side rear inner fenders. I'm thinking that this was done to make room for the 295's they had on the back of this car. Makes sense now how they were able to tuck them in so neatly.

Finishing up the brake system refresh today. Decided to go with parts store stuff for the time being until we decide exactly what direction we want to go with the car. Can always upgrade later. It's kinda surprising that you can just walk in to a place like NAPA and find parts on the shelf for a 45+ year old car

NICE! I've got 20+ years in the autoparts industry and not once have I ever seen calipers coated. May have to shop more at NAPA.

WOW...the calipers I've gotten from O'Reilly's for my trucks had a gray paint on them, I don't think it's just clear over bare steel. Cause as humid as Houston is, that would be rusty in 15 minutes...
