so i got the new ignition key lock put in there and it still turns off if i dont hold it forward... smh... any ideas?? im about to just run a switch and put it under the dash and only use the key to unlock the steering lock and start the truck ... the wire thats giving me trouble would be the one that powers the dizzy right? i mean it cuts the motor instantly so im guessing its that, but im really not sure, it has to be in the column somewhere, i just dont want to tear it all apart again

problem resolved: i replaced the ignition switch under the dash, it fixed the binding issue and also the engine cutting off issue. looks like im doing a brake master next.

Gauge doesn't go over 210 but after a long drive it pisses on the floor... Do I need to flush the system again or will replacing the old rad cap fix that? The old cap is beat up ... I'm going to head to Autozone for some brake rotors on my wife's van so I'll pick one up and see

The cap would be the cheapest solution. I'd try that first. Do you have your overflow tank hooked up?

Yes is there a functioning overflow tank setup? I found that drilling a VERY SMALL hole in the flange of the thermostat cured my temp spiking issues during cold start warm up. Just don't drill it too big or it will take forever to warm up. Could be a sticking thermostat too.

Overflow tank is attached, it's new thermostat, I boiled it before install and it opened up. I put the new cap on but haven't had a chance to drive it. Back in town tomorrow so I'll take it for a drive. Temp hasn't been all over the place since the new pump and thermostat was installed , pretty much stays at 205-210. Maybe the overflow tank is cracked, I'll have to take a look

straight 6 to V8 swap

I have a 250 inline 6 and a four speed manual with bull low, and i was wondering if a 350 would bolt on to my tranny the way it is or would i need a new bell housing and cluch

Not quite sure if it'll bolt straight up, I think it will... My .02, get a new clutch either way, you'll tear the old one up once you drop in a 350 lol

Oh and on my overflow tank, the hose that runs down to it from the rad cap was cracked, that's why it was pissin all over the driveway ...I cut the line and stuck it back on. I'll see if that was all once my carb is back on and I can run it... Someone said the sun pro gauges were ****, might look for a replacement set

It'll bolt right in with V8 mounts. Fan shroud will need changed. What's wrong with the 6? There's plenty of V8 trucks. I'd leave the 6 if it were me. Only thing I'd change, is swap to a non integral head off an earlier 250 or even 230.
