I'm so angry i can't see straight. I tried to change the pulley myself, but failed due to an exceeding ****** worn out rental kit pictured above. So I took it to a shop I've dealt with for 30 years. It has a new owner about 3 yrs ago, and a brand new front guy. I told them I wanted the pulley changed and that I had the pulley. The new guy belittled and talked down to me trying to 'school' me on how it was not the pulley it was the pump. He kept on and on, So when I dropped it off i took a new pump I bought in case they needed it (just in case if they were to find out the pump was cause), because they were only able to schedule me last minute before my big trip of 900 mile trip to C10 nationals. I went to pick it up at noon in the rain the day leaving for the trip at 4 with huge list of stuff to get down to the truck before leaving. I got home and looked down and noticed the pulley box in the floor, opened it up, yep, you guessed it. They did not install the new pulley, but did install the pump. I re-read the receipt with job descrition as "replace power steering pump". And you guessed it, pulley still wobbling away. I safely drove it on the trip. They said they would install the pulley when I got back, it took it back today which is two weeks later which is the earliest they could schedule. They just now said the pulley does not fit the pump because it rubs against the power steering mounting bracket. Yet only this is only part number shown, the instructions with pulley say the pulley could be smaller diameter but should work exempt for the off chance of needing a shorter belt.
So now, they are putting the old pulley back on, I'm going to pick it up and be over $400 poorer for absolutely no change other than a new pump that wasn't needed. $228 Labor. $55 pulley, $150 pump, $50 core charge, plus the new belts (which they did not install) and power steering fluid I also supplied.
