Wiper motor wiring

Im rewiring my 1983 c10 intermitt. wiper motor and have a few questions, Ive located all the wires pink 94, ppl 92, blk 150, blk/blu 97, and the gray 91, the only thing that Im not sure of is white 93, would this be the power to run motor and washer

Two white wires used with 83 wipers.

One is used on both intermittent and base wiper systems.

It is - like you say - the main power supply for the entire system. It runs from the fuse block (fuse labeled WIPER) to the firewall transit block.

When it comes out of the transit (on the engine side of the FW), it splits off into two separate leads (93 A & 93 B).

93 A - is the common power supply for both the high and low speed wiper motor windings.

93 B - is the power to the washer solenoid.


With intermittent wipers there is another white wire.

It only runs from the switch to the pulse module. That white wire (along with the orange wire) is connected to the variable resistance in the switch. These two wires (and the variable resistance) are used to control the pulse rate of the wipers when in intermittent mode.

Neither of these two wires exit the pulse module.

My kit is suppling power to the wiper switch, do you split off of this wire and catch washer sol., and the wiper motor, since not using old fuse block

GM uses a switched ground system on all of their wiper motors on this series of trucks.
There are no 12v power leads on the wiper switch contacts.
The wiper switch routes grounds to the wiper motor not power.

The wiper motor has constant ignition power from the WIPER fuse on two circuit 93 leads. Washer and Motor.

The optional CD4 delay switch adds potentiometer and pulse wires between the stock switch and the pulse unit. These three extra wires are only present on the pulse switches.

Wire colors are only guaranteed accurate for 1983. Circuit #s and functions will be valid for all diagrams from 78-84. The Washer is divorced from 85 on and switch illumination circuit 8F is not present from 84 on.

  • 94 PNK ground out to motor Wash

  • 92 PPL ground out to motor Hi
  • 91 GRY ground out to motor Low and Park Low
  • 97 BLK/LT-BLU OFF Ground out to (Park)
  • 8F GRY variable power from dash lamp rheostat for switch illumination ONLY. This does not route to the switch contacts and is not present from 1984 on.
