there is the standard solid seal i dont recommend because its harder to install or the deluxe seals that use locking rings, you can chose black or chrome locking ring

Locking ring? that strip that goes inside the seal?

This video from Precision Rubber Parts shows how to R&R the windshield seal. According to GMCPauls, the Precision seals come with a lifetime warranty.

I just replaced mine. If you have the lock strip type, buy the installation tool. I tried using a plastic windshield stick. Took about 45 min to go maybe 18" . Bought the tool (linde 47000) and did the entire lock strip in about 10 minutes.

Yes, it ‘should’ be glued in with urethane per the factory service manual and AGRSS (auto glass replacement safety standard). Not only will it help seal it but will help hold it in in case of an accident. That being said I’m sure that there are thousands of truck out there that don’t have the windshield glued into the rubber gasket
