I have a 1978 burb with 87k miles. It was kept up alright. not really any rust other than a battery leak some years back. But she wasnt loved.

The issue is... **** where do i start? Body work? Suspension? Engine? interior? It runs, pretty well. Has a leakin valve cover but i plan on getting that this weekend. She aint no beauty... but sounds pretty mean.

I inherited a similar condition vehicle. I started with the brakes and suspension. Next will be engine and last the body then interior. Some think the "patina" look is cool.

My thoughts were if I fix the engine I'll drive it right away. The suspension and brakes first keep me from getting hurt or wrecking it once it runs good. Then the interior after the bodywork because that dust and paint could ruin nice interior if you go the other way.

I could be totally wrong too so do what you want. Haha

My truck was off the road for 10 years before I bought it. I started with the mechanicals, paint is next, then interior.

Some solid advice already...

But first...paint, dubz, speakerz, open exhaust, lower(2wd)/lift(4wd)

Everything you can see and hear from the outside

stopping is more important than going. a truck without an engine can go( get it to the top of a long steep grade and give her a push) but if you can't make a safe emergency stop you're in a world of hurt. highdesertranger

I too, like brakes but if it's leaking juice, wtf difference does it make?
Leaks are unacceptable.
