My buddy picked up an 83 chevy k20 with full floater. We found it had a bad wheel cylinder. All the stores sellin him a cylinder that didnt fit. Our local napa found it and from the book its a 67-72 half ton cylinder. We were scourin yard today and they had full floaters layin around and none of them had the same wheel cylindets as his. I know u cant put any faith in a parts jockey but anyone else ran into this?

Never heard of this. Almost makes 1 think that someone has installed the wrong cylinder at some time in the past huh? I do know the 14b SF cylinder is different from the 14b Full Float, at least in some configurations. There are different brake shoe sizes that makes a difference.

Thats what we were wondering but none of the other cylinders bolt holes would line up on it with the measurements we got from brakes.

We got it installed n started bleedin out the system and found a leak at the brand new cast iron MC/Booster. Was his last nite of freedom(psycho wife ruined his life) n we were hopin to take it out but no such luck. Next wknd the neighbor girl is goin to the yard with me to get anything we can and pickin up 2 newer aluminum MC/Booster combos to install on these trucks.

In last 2 wks we've almost picked this yard clean of square parts.

On side note somewhat related, how often did an 87 v20 (mine) come with cast MC? My first 87 was aluminum.

I know that some 14 bolt FF had 11" drums. I had one back in the day. Maybe thats the problem. I stole this from a different forum.

JB5= front disc 11.86 X 1.29 rear drum 11.15 X 2.75 Vacuum-Double Diaphragm
JB6= front disc 12.50 X 1.54 rear drum 11.15 X 2.75 Vacuum-Double Diaphragm
JB7= front disc 12.50 X 1.54 rear drum 13.00 X 2.50 Vacuum-Double Diaphragm
JB8= front disc 12.50 X 1.54 rear drum 13.00 X 3.50 Hydraulic-Hydro-Boost
