Just out of curiousity, if it doesn't knock or smoke and potentially has less than 100k on it, why the swap? Going for a big block? I don'r generally swap a good running and driving drivetrain, usually something has to be blown up first lol. With the exception of an auto trans of course (just because they're scary and junkyard swap has always been easier in my experience), usually an engine is worth rebuilding unless it has an aftermarket window installed in the block by force...

So the current 350 is 175hp/275tq and I'm going to a 71 cadillac 500 which is 400/550 paired to a 4l80e. I looked into it and it would cost waaaaay more to get 350 to that kind of power.

It is crazy what some people will pay for things. I would suggest posting an add on your local buy and sell or CL or whatever. Ask the $1200 while it can be heard running and driven. Never know, it may pay for the whole swap for you.
So, I just skimmed over facebook marketplace and found couple of setups that maybe give me a ballpark. One was a 305/700 set up w/ accessories for $1500 and the other was a 350/700 setup w/o accessories for $1800.

haha Thanks, man, honestly I don't know why more people don't consider the caddy motor. It has 450tq at 1500 rpm! And, it cost me $850 with all brackets/ accessories.

Don't forget the $1500 in gas money :D
The one good thing is that gas prices would go down when I leave the Puget sound area and not get back to $5.20 a gallon for regular until I got back, so all those dollars spent in gas would feel like a deal!

I just sold a 305/350 auto out of a 79 Bonanza for $600. Engine ran, but smoked. It can help with price and questions if you take video of the engine running while still in the truck.

Agree with Buck69. Post it on your local sale sight or Facebook. Shoot high. Negotiate the price. These things are always market driven. Meaning if someone wants it.....they'll pay for it. Goodluck
