Has anyone bought or used the Milwaukee or Dewalt or Stanley mechanic tool sets? Home Depot has some decent looking sets. Need one for Sandy the Tahoe. Usually get Craftsman, but when I saw the other sets, they seem better suited for what I'm looking for, just don't have any working knowledge of those brands
Craftsman isn't what it used to be, they are okay tools to get you by but quality control has suffered.
I bought my daughter a big set of Milwaukee wrenches for Christmas, they look and feel like quality but no real experience with them. They came in a "packout" box with removable organizers
My small Stanley kit (from Walmart I think) has survived the past ten years in my travel trailer. The tools are pretty cheesy but, would be just fine for travel/emergency tools.
I built a pretty extensive travel kit that stays in my jeep, a lot of it is "Tekton" I ordered from amazon. For the price I have been very happy with everything, I've got a large set of their wrenches that came in a roll, impact sockets and a few other goodies. Tekton has mechanic set for about $270 that looks decent. They sell lots of "Kits" that come in nice plastic organizer cases Etc. Everything else in my Jeep kit was purchased as individual tools over a period of a few years which reduced the strain on my wallet.
